---"Leo is literally sleeping on the floor!" a voice chuckled from above him.
"Hm. Poor guy, maybe he wasn’t used to such comfort," a much more serene voice spoke slowly.
Alerted by the voices, Leo sat upright. Before him stood Rain and Celik—the vampire prince. Celik merely smiled as he saw Leo sit up instantly, but Rain’s eyes were wide open in surprise.
"Since you’re the first one awake, you can tell the others," Celik said. "Put on your training suit—the black one. When you exit, the guard will show you to the cafeteria, then to another room." He winked at Leo before leaving the room, chuckling alongside Rain.
*Are these guys best friends or something?* Leo wondered as he got up from his comfortable position, groaning loudly. The others shifted a bit before waking up. Leo relayed everything Celik had told him and then entered the bathroom to take a bath. After a few minutes, they were all dressed in black and ready.
*Hm... training suits... oh lord,* Ares thought as he observed his reflection in the mirror.
"Wow, to be honest, we look really cool," Ares said, mostly admiring himself in the mirror.
As they left the room, just as Celik had said, one of the two guards standing outside took off, leaving them to follow. The guard occasionally looked back to ensure no one tried anything. After walking down a long hallway and turning two lefts, they reached the cafeteria. It was massive, with an impressive spread of food scattered on the wooden tables. Gold chandeliers hung from the high ceiling, at least taller than four children standing on top of each other. There were about five chandeliers, completely illuminating the cafeteria and adding an aureate glow.
Frost was the first to break. He launched at the food like a ravenous wolf that hadn’t eaten in weeks. Leo couldn’t blame him. Forgetting all manners, he too started filling his mouth with anything he could find—from different types of meats like pork, chicken, beef, and lamb, to various kinds of rice dishes he didn’t even know existed. There was also a famous Egyptian dish labeled 'Koshari' that made Leo’s mouth water as soon as he saw it. It had some kind of tomato sauce on it, topped with an egg and fried onions... Yum!
After eating, they all had wide grins on their faces, clearly satisfied. As they stood outside the cafeteria, a guard informed them that the Prince and Rain would come to pick them up. Leo spotted a massive, sturdy-looking brown door. His curiosity spiked as he wondered what was behind it. He could tell he wasn’t the only one curious, as Frost and Zion were eyeing it with the same gleam. However, Ares seemed to be in his own world, observing maids, servants, and other people entering a room on the far right.
Frost nudged Leo in the ribs, directing his attention to a woman who was standing outside the festooned room. "This is utterly ridiculous! I command to be permitted to pass through this wooden barrier," she huffed, gesturing at the same door that had piqued the Lunas’ curiosity.
"Ma’am, the king simply doesn’t allow it," a guard tried to explain, a hint of panic briefly rising in his tone.
"What’s behind that door must be precious," Frost said briskly, before turning on his heels to check if Celik or Rain had arrived yet.
Leo whispered a joke into Zion’s ear about the lady, which instantly made Zion break into fits of laughter, catching the attention of the other Lunas. After Zion told them the joke, they too couldn’t stop laughing like maniacs, their heads rocking back and forth as they did. Leo instantly went red; he hadn’t realized it would go that far.
"May I care to know what’s so funny?" Celik spoke from behind them. As if hypnotized, they all stiffened, but the tears of laughter they had shed gave them away as they turned to face Celik and Rain. When no one answered, Celik put his hands in his pockets and nodded for the Lunas to follow.
The distance between them and the brown door kept increasing, redirecting their thoughts from it to what was going to happen next...
