Chapter 13

Red looks at Chloe, confused. "Wait, you know why the twins are here? They never told me...." She gets lost in thought. "Yes they told me, and they didn't want to tell you because it involves you." Chloe wipes her tears, even though more just streams down, making her attempts useless. "What do you mean it involves me? What happened?" Red wipes Chloe's tears, which just makes her cry even more. "Chloe, baby. Please tell me. What happened?" Chloe sniffles and takes a deep breath. "The twins said that when they went back to the future, we weren't together anymore." Red looks at her confused. "Aren't together? Like divorced?" Chloe nods. "But that's not all. They said that you kept trying to get back together and i kept rejecting you." Red slowly nods. "Ok?...." She didn't know what to say, although she felt like Chloe wasn't done yet. "They said that you locked yourself in your office and you-" a sob escapes her. Red holds her close. "Stop. Stop. Stop. I don't need to hear it. I think i can figure out the rest. Baby, look at me." She gently pulls away to hold Chloe's face in her hands.

She grabs her hands and places them on her chest. "You feel that?" Chloe feels Red's heartbeat beneath her palm. She tries to focus on it as she steadies her breathing. "I am alive. My heart is beating. For you and only you. Whatever it was that made us get a divorce, has not happened yet. And i won't let it happen." Red rests her forehead against Chloe's. "They said i accused you of cheating on me. Sometime now. Like i lost my trust in you or something. And I know you would never do that, but sometimes all it takes is a seed of doubt for it to grow over time. I think that's what led to our divorce. They said we were close to getting back together but i kept pushing you away and then you ki-" Chloe breaks down into another sob. "Chloe, Chloe, baby stop. Please." She pulls her close and presses her head against her chest. "It breaks my heart to see you like this. Please stop. I'm here. I'm alive. We're still together. And we can fix this. I'm not going anywhere. I promise." Red strokes her hair.

Chloe looks up at her and stares into her eyes. "Your eyes have specs of red in them. I never noticed that before." She whispers. Red smiles. "And yours are the deepest, most beautiful eyes i have ever seen." Chloe blushes and hides her face into Red's shoulder. "They're just brown. Most of the world's population has brown eyes." Red shakes her head. "I don't care about those brown eyes, i care about these brown eyes. These brown eyes that i never want to see another tear come out of ever again....unless they're happy tears." Chloe laughs before pulling her in for a kiss. "Gods, Red. I love you so much." "And i love you Chloe, don't you ever, ever forget that!" She shakes her slightly.

"Now, the twins said that you accused me of cheating on you?" Chloe nods. "With whom?" She shrugs. "I don't know, but my best guess would be your project partner." Red looks at her with wide eyes. "Tia?! Tiana's daughter? The one who exchanged beignets for one of my mom's cupcakes back in the day? Baby, she's straight. I wouldn't stand a chance." Chloe smacks her stomach. Red laughs. "I'm kidding! Even if she wasn't straight, I don't like her like that. Now, her mom however...." Chloe rolls her eyes and smacks her again. "First my dad, now Tia's mom? What's with you and older people?" Red shrugs. "Never really grew up with anyone around my age, i guess." Chloe laughs as she shakes her head. "So, what are we gonna tell the twins? That they can go home now?" Red bites her lip as she debates whether to tell Chloe or not. "Now hold on, i said Tia was straight." Chloe nods. "Yes, i know." "However, her sister Talia is a different story." Chloe stares at her. "Has she been flirting with you?" "I already told her that i have a girlfriend. I almost said wife once by accident." Chloe continues to stare at her. "And did she stop?" Red slowly shakes her head. "So, Talia is gonna be a problem?" "Possibly." Chloe's brain starts thinking. "I feel like the twins aren't telling us everything." Red nods. "Agreed, did you wanna talk to them again?" Chloe nods. "Absolutely." "Actually, let's do it in the morning, I'm pretty sure they're asleep. And I'm tired too." Red complains as she sinks back into the bed.

Chloe smiles and holds her close. "Whatever you want baby. I'm definitely never letting you go ever again." Red sighs as she cuddles up to Chloe. "Gods, I love you." Exhaustion taking over her. "I love you baby. Will you marry me?" Chloe smiles. "I'm pretty sure i already did." They both laugh before kissing each other softly and falling asleep in each others arms.
