The twins were floored. They didn't know what to do. "Uh, Ma?!" Cree calls out. "Yes, sweetie?" "We'll be upstairs!" "Ok! No, not you Red. Well, it's not my fault they flaked on you, maybe they didn't want to come visit you and I'm not gonna force them." Chloe shouts through the phone. They cringe at her volume before they hurry upstairs. "Ok, ok. Breathe. Let's figure this out together. Slowly. What did we change?" Crimson asks her brother. "Well, clearly mom's aren't together. And we now have two younger siblings running around." Cree points to the door, referring to the little ones playing tag outside. "Named Cruz and Cromwell. Not bad names, to be honest." Crimson shrugs. "Well, they did name us too, so yeah." They both sit and breathe deeply. "Ok so mom's had two sets of twins. Obviously they went to the dance together, got married, had kids, four of them apparently, but then they got divorced? What happened? Why?"

"Maybe, we could ask them?" Cree suggests. "What if it's a sore subject? Or what if they already told us? If we ask again, they're gonna be suspicious." Crimson sighs. "No, we can't." "Crimson! Cree!" Chloe shouts from them from downstairs. "Coming!" They both share a look before heading downstairs. It was then that they really took a good look at their Ma. Chloe's normally blue hair was dark brown with a streak of blue instead being entirely blue. "Look, how about we just ask them?" Chloe says. "Fine by me....you look good by the way...." They hear their mom compliment her. "Thanks Red." Chloe appears to grow uncomfortable and impatient. "Twins?!" It was then that they made their way downstairs. Red breathes a sigh of relief. "There you guys are, i was worried sick when you didn't show up at the rabbit hole. Where were you?" Red asks them as she places a hand on her hip while Chloe crosses her arms, clearly waiting for an explanation as well. "Uh, we stopped by the school, forgot some homework that we were assigned during the break." Crimson lied. "Ok? Why didn't you meet me at the rabbit hole? Why'd you come back home with your Ma?" Red questions them. It was then that they really took a good look at their mom. She looked about the same as well, with the exception of her hair. Instead of it being completely red, it was red with a single pink streak. "Maybe they changed their minds about spending the break with you." Chloe mumbles.

Red rolls her eyes. "Would you let them answer please?" She turns to her ex-wife. Chloe puts her hands up. "Fine. Twins?" "Uhh we forgot?" Cree shrugs. "You forgot? All you've been talking about all week was spending the break with your mom and seeing grandma Bridget. What do you mean you forgot?" Chloe was confused. "Um, just all those finals and tests before we left for break kinda fried our heads. Sorry." Crimson quickly lies. "It's ok, we can still head out now before it gets dark." Red takes her keys out of her pocket and starts walking toward the door. "Um, actually! We were kinda hoping for a summer together? All of us?" Cree looks between his mothers. Red's heartbeat quickens as she dares to look at her ex-wife. "Um, ask your mother. Chloe?" Chloe glances between her two eldest and her ex-wife. "Are you two planning something?" She asks them. "What? No." "Cause you know how i hate it when you two try to get me and your mother to spend more time together." Chloe sighs. "We're not." And in all honesty, they weren't. They had no idea what they were doing but they knew that if they wanted their moms back together like how they were before they left, they needed to act fast. This is not their future. Not the timeline that they remembered.

The mothers they remembered. Chloe squints at them before glancing at Red, who suddenly found her boots to be very interesting. Not daring to look at her ex-wife. Finally Chloe sighs. "Ok, fine. I guess we can all go to the lake castle." "Yes!" The twins both high five. "Yay!" The younger kids cheer. "Mommy!" They both run to hug Red. She smiles as she crouches down and hugs them both. That was the mom they remembered. The one who was affectionate and kind, the one who was covering their Ma, Chloe, with kisses. To which she would complain about having to clean off thousands of red hearts on her face afterwards. "Just give me a minute to pack my things, and the kids things too." Chloe heads upstairs. "Oh, let me help you." Red puts down her younger children and follows her. "No, it's ok. I got it." Chloe insists. "Chloe, i know how you are, and you do not need to pack your whole wardrobe. Let me help so we get on the road and be there before sundown. Please?" Red smiles sweetly at her. Chloe stares at her ex-wife for a moment. "Fine, but don't touch anything. And no snooping, ok? I know you." Chloe warns her. Red crosses her heart. "I promise." Chloe eyes her before turning to the older twins. "Kids, go wait in the car, we'll be right back!" They both nod and go outside to find their mom's red SUV.
