Hey! Today we are going to talk about the otherpaw and furry community and in general their relationship.
First of all, standard basic explanation:
Otherpaw: "Otherpaw is someone who roleplays as an animal, not to connect with any altertype!"
Furry: The furry fandom is a subculture interested in fictional animal characters that have anthropomorphic characteristics, thus having human personality and characteristics.
While in the furry community the interest is in anthropomorphic animals, in the otherpaw community the interest is only in animals.Otherpaws are basically non-anthropomorphic furries. They can be classified as a kind of subclass within the furry community.There is still no direct official response from the furry community about this, however, within the otherpaw community, the majority consider otherpaw to be under the furry umbrella.The obvious interest in common animals is visible, but there are distinct characteristics. In the furry community, anthropomorphism is essential, whereas in otherpaw it is completely unnecessary. They also have different gears, while for furrys they are fursuits, for otherpaws they are masks and tails.
(Technically speaking, Quadrobics and gear is not a "therian thing" but rather an Otherpaw thing. Quadrobics does not belong only to therians or otherpaws, and yes you can be a Quadrobist without being either Otherpaw or Therian.)
It's possible for a Furry to be a Quadrobist, just as an otherpaw doesn't need to be a Quadrobist. Quadrobics does not belong to any community :P
In summary: Otherpaw is under the furry umbrella, but they are not the same thing!
