I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry!! I know, it's been a year 😭😭

There are about 17 completely different versions of this chapter that I've wrote, but none of them were right. Honestly, this one went in a direction I didn't intend too, but at this point I figured you guys would rather have something than nothing at all, SO HERE YOU GO!

Enjoy!

The morning goes pretty much like most of my birthdays have done, with me and the boys lazing around the house with my mum and dad, opening presents and eating cake for breakfast. A bit later, my parents took us all out for lunch in the city. My mum even bought us both some cocktails since I'm officially of legal drinking age now, but as nice as that was, all I cared about was being there with all of them. My biological family, as well as the family I built with my boys.

Once we arrived back at my house, the boys and I were supposed to be getting ready to go to Evan's since we're hosting a Halloween party there tonight, but instead they just decided to pull me into the kitchen, out of the way of my parents.

"What's going on?" I ask suspiciously, noting the way all of them are smirking or trying to hide smiles.

"Show her, E." Luke puts a hand on Evan's shoulder and shoves him forward so that he's closer to me, and he delights in seeing the mildly annoyed glare Evan gives him in return. When he finally looks back to me, I can see the nerves written all over him.

"We, uh..." He murmurs, and I'd be terrified that something is wrong with how apprehensive he seems if the other boys weren't all smiling.

"We got you something." He finally finishes, pulling out a little box from behind his back and holding out to me. I take it from his hand and resist the urge to just tear it open in curiosity. He soft whisper of 'I hope you like it' makes me take a second to look up into his eyes, and the rollercoaster of emotions he's put me through in the last few days hits me at full force all over again.

But then I open the box, and the only emotion I feel from then on is love.

"My necklace..." I breathe, my eyes prickling with happy, grateful tears as I stare down at the silver necklace with a little star pendant. On each of the five points of the star, one of our initials is engraved- FLEEM. It's near identical to the one I've worn for years, but I lost it in the sea one day this summer whilst we were all at the beach. It broke my heart when I realised it had gone and I've been meaning to replace it ever since. Now they've done it for me.

"Do you like it, angel?" Evan whispers, stepping closer and making me look away from the necklace finally. I nod, not being able to speak with the emotion clogging my throat. He gently pulls the chain from the box and unclasps it, telling me to turn around so he can put it on me.

His fingers deliberately trail across my neck as he circles the chain around me, and I hold Maverick's gaze as my breath catches in my throat. Can he tell what Evan's featherlight touches are doing to me? Can he see the blush starting to bloom across my cheeks?

"I got it from this company that makes jewellery for surfers and swimmers and stuff, so it's not going to break this time." Ev murmurs as he clasps it and grabs my hips to turn me back around to face him. My heart melts at the realisation of how much thought he put into this...and at how much money he probably spent.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" I say as I fling my arms around his neck and launch myself at him, his laughs tickling my neck as he wraps himself around me too. Squeezing him tightly, I pull back a little and stretch up to kiss his cheek.
