Olympus was quiet tonight. No sound vibrated in its majestic marble halls. Other than the occasional crackle of the torch braziers that rested on the walls and outside. No crickets were chirping their nightly melody. As they could not survive or make it up to the mighty home of the gods without death being the clearest option. Yes, Mount Olympus the home of the Greek gods and goddesses along with other divine beings was indeed quiet. For every immortal being was currently resting their heads at the end of another exhausting day. Not even the king of the gods, Zeus himself was out in the night committing his usual infidelities against his wife Hera.
For once the night was peaceful, and everyone and everything was at peace.
Well almost everyone.
In the gardens of Olympus, Luna stared at the night sky. Finding comfort in Selene, the Moon titaness's pale blue glow. Eyes shining like the stars that inhabit the dark sky just like the celestial silver orb that graced its presence now.
The goddess gave a warm smile towards the sight, her right hand placed on the moon amulet that hung gracefully around her neck. A sapphire crescent moon pendant that she always wore on her person. It was a part of her as it was a symbol of her namesake, 'Luna' meaning moon. Despite there already being a goddess of the moon, Luna was the goddess of galaxies and other celestial bodies. So, she was not the goddess of one moon but all. Which made the pendant make sense. Her necklace also helped to provide her comfort in either dire, stressful, and/or troubling situations. And this was one of those situations.
Luna let out a sigh as she thought back to how this all began.

It all happened 17 years ago, when one of her captains, Captain Layton. Reported a strange phenomenon outside of one of the borders of the empire near the valley of Ever Mist.
Apparently, some of the Mirrikhs, (loyal followers of the old tyrant emperor Deavon), ended up being spotted.
It did not matter though either way, because Luna knew that just one of these abominations spelled disaster. But a horde of them was worse. And from what her reports said, at least thirteen have been spotted.
Unfortunately for her, however, they somehow managed to find a way to Earth. To Greece. Her first home. She knew she had to be the one to go and defeat the Mirrikhs so they would not harm anyone. Even though she had vowed to herself on the day of her crowning as empress, that her realm was her top priority. She also vowed to never come back to Greece. To Mount Olympus home of the Greek pantheon.
The reason for this declaration being was that she had known the Olympians for a very long time and what they truly were. Vain, selfish, and cruel beings that can easily destroy the lives of others for either their sick pleasure, revenge, or because they care only about their own desires. Not considering how their actions can have dire consequences. Or how badly their actions can easily harm another with or without knowing it. With only their excuse being that they were gods. Nothing could touch them. Everything that they desired could be achieved because they could easily make it happen.
It was they who ruled the world.
It was them who could do what they wanted without so much of a thought.
It was them who decided who lived and who died.
Some of the gods of Olympus were exempted from this viewpoint for their hearts were good. And they were always either kind or friendly. Some of them were even her friends. Friends that she missed dearly.
On that day, the Mirrikhs arrived in a polis called Pelpenie. Luna went to the polis to battle the horrid creatures herself alongside Aster and Nebula, her Vega wolves. Tallan her raven. And flying his rider through the air, as he the mighty king of dragons, Aragon, flapped his great wings through the sky. Her council of course protested very loudly, that their Empress should not fight in an unknown battle against these monsters alone, but she digressed. In her mind it was better to take a small attack force than a full-blown militia. Especially since she did not want to face certain people at the time anyway. Not like she would admit that out loud.
