As the day wore on, Sara couldn't shake the guilt gnawing at her. The idea of facing Shubman again made her nervous, but she knew she had to apologize and try to make things right. Gathering her courage, she decided to approach him during a break between classes.
She found Shubman sitting alone at his desk, still brooding and lost in thought. His expression was hard to read, but Sara could tell he was still upset. Taking a deep breath, she walked over to him, her heart pounding in her chest.
"Shubman..." she began, her voice small and tentative.
Shubman glanced up at her, his eyes narrowing slightly as he waited for her to continue. The tension between them was palpable, and Sara could feel her resolve wavering, but she pressed on.
"I just wanted to say I'm really sorry about what happened," she said, her voice trembling with sincerity. "I didn't mean to cause you any trouble, and I know it's made things difficult for you. I just... I want to make it up to you, somehow."
Shubman stared at her for a moment, his expression unreadable. He was still angry, but he could see the genuine regret in her eyes. Part of him wanted to brush her off and walk away, but another part of him knew she wasn't entirely at fault. After all, she hadn't meant to put him in this situation.
"And how exactly do you plan to make it up to me?" Shubman asked, his voice cool but not as harsh as before.
Sara hesitated for a moment, then spoke with a determined tone. "I'll do whatever you say, Shubman. Anything to make this right. Just tell me what you want, and I'll do it."
Shubman raised an eyebrow, considering her offer. He could see she was desperate to fix things, and a part of him couldn't resist the opportunity to make her squirm a little. Finally, he leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms as he looked at her.
"Alright," he said, his tone measured. "If you're serious about making it up to me, then you'll do my assignments whenever I ask. No excuses."
Sara blinked in surprise, not expecting that request. It wasn't as bad as she'd feared, but it wasn't exactly easy either. Still, she had promised to do whatever it took, and if this was what Shubman wanted, she had no choice but to agree.
"Okay," she said with a small nod. "I'll do your assignments whenever you ask. I promise."
Shubman gave her a curt nod, clearly satisfied with her response. "Good. Then we're even."
Sara felt a small sense of relief, though the tension between them was still thick. She knew this wouldn't be the end of it, but at least she had taken a step toward making things right. As she turned to leave, Shubman's voice stopped her.
"And Sara," he added, his tone softer but still firm, "next time, just be more careful about what you post."
She looked back at him, her eyes meeting his for a brief moment. "I will," she promised, before walking away, feeling a mix of relief and lingering unease.
