"You know I like you, right?" he said, looking at her intently.
"I know, Yeonjun, but I can't like you back," she replied, her gaze fixed ahead.
"Why, Yej! Why! I've waited for you for almost 8 years! 8 years, Yej!" he screamed, tears streaming down his face uncontrollably.
"You know! I can't, Yeonjun!" Yeji answered, now looking at him, tears falling from her eyes.
"Why? Why can't you like me back?" Yeonjun asked, holding her hands and looking into her eyes with sadness.
"I'm already with someone else, Yeonjun, so please stop trying to get with me because I'll never like you that way," Yeji said, her voice firm. Yeonjun let go of her hands, his head down, and walked away, leaving Yeji alone.
As soon as Yeonjun was gone, Yeji broke down. She had lied to him, saying she was already with someone else, all to protect her best friend.
Yeji felt a pang of guilt and sadness as she realized the pain she had caused Yeonjun. She wished she could have been honest with him, but she knew it would have hurt her friend even more.
.....
After many years since the confession, Yeonjun went abroad to try to forget everything about Yeji, while Yeji waited for him to come back.
She regretted what she said to Yeonjun and wished that the day when Yeonjun confessed to her could just come back. Maybe by now, they would have been happy together.
Now she lies on her bed, thinking about Yeonjun. Is he okay? Is he happy now? Does he have a girlfriend? Is he still eating well? Has he moved on? Tears stream down her face as she wonders about him.
While she was crying, she saw a picture of the two of them on the table, both embracing each other while looking into each other's eyes.
She remembered his promise. He had told her he would wait for her, for her to finally like him back.
Tears streamed down her face as she looked at the picture, the memory of his promise bringing a fresh wave of sadness. She clutched the photo to her chest, wishing she could turn back time.
where are you now yeonjun?
.....
The curtains were pulled open, allowing the sunrays to touch his face. He was holding a girl in his arms, stretching as she snuggled closer to him.
"How's your sleep?" a girl named Yunjin asked, her voice soft as she watched him.
Yeonjun looked up, a smile gracing his lips. "It was good," he replied, his eyes still filled with sleepiness. "Especially with you here."
He gently kissed Yunjin's forehead, his gaze lingering on her face for a moment before he pulled her closer.
"Yeonjun, wake up already!" Yunjin exclaimed, shaking him gently. "We need to get ready. We're going back to Korea today."
Yeonjun groaned, burying his face deeper into the pillow. "Five more minutes," he mumbled, his voice thick with sleep.
"No, Yeonjun, we have a flight to catch," Yunjin insisted, her tone firm but playful. "Come on, sleepyhead, let's go."
