MEERAB'S POV

Today marks our 5th-month anniversary, and my husband gave me the most incredible surprise that brought me to tears in this morning. He always knows how to make me feel special, but this month, he truly knocked my socks off.

I've always had a passion for art, and he knows it well, but I never imagined he would surprise me with a *painting*. Not just any painting, mind you, but a portrait of me, created by his own hand!

When I asked him how he came to this conclusion, he just shrugged his shoulders and rolled his eyes, as if it was not hidden from him how much I love handmade paintings.

He doesn't merely want to purchase a painting for me or have it customized by other artists; instead, he aspires to create something truly unique and personal. He envisions a piece of art that is entirely his own creation, crafted specifically for me. He wants this artwork to be a one-of-a-kind expression of his feelings, making it even more special and meaningful to me.

Thus began his secret artistic odyssey, a journey of which I had no inkling. This is more special because Murtasim has no natural talent for drawing. Even with a ruler and a steady hand, his lines tend to wander off course. He, who had never held a brush in his life, enrolled in a painting class to create my anniversary gift, willing to invest his time, effort, and creativity into designing a work that reflects not only his artistic vision but also our connection.

The thought of Murtasim who couldn't distinguish a Monet from a Manet attempting to wield a brush made me chuckle. I could easily envision him in class, brow furrowed in concentration as he struggled to differentiate between cadmium yellow and cadmium orange. His nose, typically sensitive to the faintest whiff of perfume, now had to endure the pungent aroma of acrylics.

I can practically picture him with paint-stained fingers, hair slightly askew, and a face reflecting a blend of frustration and determination as he endeavored to capture the essence of a simple still life.

As I carefully unwrapped the package, my heart raced with anticipation, and my jaw dropped in disbelief at the sight before me. It was a stunning canvas, slightly larger than a standard photograph, and as I gazed at it, I felt as though I was looking back at a moment frozen in time.

The portrait captured the exhilarating moment I won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics in swimming. I could see the gleaming medal hanging proudly around my neck, while in my hand, I held a vibrant bouquet of colorful flowers.

Behind me, my country's national flag billowed gently. The twinkle in my eye, the curve of my smile, and the way my hair fell gracefully around my shoulders were all rendered with such precision that it felt as if the artist had truly understood the joy and triumph I experienced in that moment.

I could see the care and thought he put into every detail, from the colours he chose to the way he portrayed my features. It was as if he had captured not just my likeness but also the essence of who I am.

The painting surely may not be a masterpiece by any professional standard. There might be a few wobbly lines, a smudge here and there, but it is the most beautiful painting in the world to me.
Every single effort he put in was a love letter to me, and I couldn't be more touched. My eyes filled with tears of love for my Murtasim.

How lucky and blessed I am to have him all to myself.

The clock ticked by, each second a delicious countdown to my grand plan. The first item on the agenda was the feast, and I was resolute in making it a truly special occasion for my husband. As an absolute seafood fanatic, he delights in the flavors of fresh fish, shellfish, crabs, and prawns. I aimed to craft an unforgettable experience, so I devised the perfect way to celebrate: a culinary masterpiece showcasing his favorite dishes. Of course, I made sure to get the green light from my doctor first, as I certainly didn't want to face my husband's disapproval on our special day.
