As I watched my sister prepare for the party, she couldn't help but twirl in front of the mirror, mesmerized by the beautiful pink tulle dress her fiancé, Jeon Jungkook, had recently gifted her. Jungkook, the youngest and most successful business tycoon in town, had not only taken over his father's company but had also built his own empire alongside it. I had always admired him from afar, but over the past two years, my admiration had blossomed into something more. At first, Jungkook was just a friend of my sister's, but as time passed, he fell deeply in love with her and eventually proposed. Although I was genuinely happy for the couple, knowing they shared a deep love for each other, I couldn't help but feel a pang of heartbreak. It was the worst I had ever experienced, but I knew my place and never dared to express my feelings, accepting that I could never be more than just a silent admirer.

As I stood at the entrance of my sister's expansive bedroom, which seemed even more enormous compared to my own modest space, she turned to me with a radiant smile. "Look, Jia, don't I look pretty?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with excitement. I nodded in agreement, returning her smile, for it was undeniable - she was breathtakingly beautiful, like a princess from a fairy tale. Everyone treated her like royalty, and it was easy to see why - she possessed a captivating combination of physical beauty, charming personality, and exceptional character. She was the epitome of what every man desired, and even our parents adored her, often showering her with attention and praise.

As for me, I had grown accustomed to living in her shadow. I felt envious of the constant attention she received, even from a young age. While she attended an elite private school, I was left behind, a stark contrast that only highlighted our differing circumstances. It seemed as though she was loved by all, while I was left unloved, a feeling I had grown to accept over time. Despite this, I had learned to come to terms with my reality, acknowledging that our lives had taken different paths.

We have guests at our home, specifically Unnie' s fiancé and his family. As I walked down the stairs behind my sister, I heard my dad lavishing praise on her, making her giggle, while I stood in the corner, feeling invisible. My mom looked at me and smiled, "Jia, you're not dressed yet?" she asked, even though she knew her husband had told me to stay away from the table. My father glanced at my mom and said, "Ahin, I've told her to stay out of sight. I'm tired of being embarrassed by her." My mom remained silent, as she always does. He's ashamed of me because I don't fit into our family's high-society mold. I didn't pursue the career they wanted for me; instead, I've always dreamed of being an artist and am trying to make a name for myself as an art teacher at an academy, hoping to get my work recognized. However, I haven't had a chance to showcase my paintings yet. In contrast, my family members are all renowned doctors - my dad is a neurologist, my mom is a physiotherapist, and my sister Minjun is an oncologist. My father's disdain for me grew even stronger when I chose not to follow in their footsteps and pursue a medical career.

I walked to my room, hearing him speak venomous words, like always. They would say I'm a thankless person, a burden. Those words once hurt me, but now I'm desensitized to them. My parents never loved me from birth, because my arrival was marked by tragedy. My mother's life was in danger during delivery, and my twin brother didn't survive. They've always seen me as a bad omen because of this. My mother spent three months in bed, and my father invested money in hospital contributions, but he feels it was all a waste. While I'm loathed by everyone, my sister is loved by all. The contrast is stark, and it's a painful reminder of my place in the family.
