With the name Jullian chosen and excitement building for the arrival of their newest family member, Clara and William turned their attention to preparing the nursery. They wanted to create a special space for Jullian, a place filled with love, comfort, and warmth. The nursery would be more than just a room—it would be Jullian's first home, a place where he could grow, learn, and feel safe.

The Aftons had a small spare room at the end of the hallway, just down from Chris and Elizabeth's rooms. It had been used as a storage room for years, a place to keep extra boxes, seasonal decorations, and odds and ends. But now, with the arrival of their new baby on the horizon, it was time to transform it into a beautiful nursery.

Clara and William spent a quiet Sunday afternoon together, cleaning out the spare room. The kids helped, too, their excitement evident in the way they eagerly sorted through old boxes and carried things out to the garage. Michael, always the responsible one, took charge of organizing the items they were keeping, while Chris and Elizabeth raced back and forth, carrying small loads and giggling as they worked.

Once the room was cleared, Clara and William stood in the empty space, imagining how it would look once it was transformed. The walls were a pale, faded blue, and the carpet was an old, worn beige. It wasn't much to look at now, but Clara could already see it in her mind—the perfect nursery for their little boy.

"We'll need to repaint," Clara said, her hands on her hips as she surveyed the room. "Something softer, maybe a light gray or a soft green."

William nodded, smiling as he watched her plan. "I agree. Something calming. And we'll need new carpeting, or maybe a nice, soft rug to go over the hardwood."

Clara nodded, her mind already spinning with ideas. She loved decorating, and the thought of creating a beautiful space for Jullian filled her with excitement. "And we'll need a crib, of course, and a changing table. Maybe a rocking chair, too, for those late-night feedings."

William chuckled, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "You've thought of everything, haven't you?"

Clara grinned up at him, her eyes sparkling. "I've had some time to think about it," she teased. "Besides, I want everything to be perfect for him."

Over the next few weeks, Clara and William threw themselves into the task of creating the perfect nursery. They started by painting the walls a soft, soothing sage green, a color that felt both peaceful and warm. The kids helped, too, each of them taking a turn with a paint roller, giggling as they carefully painted the lower parts of the walls.

After the paint had dried, they moved on to choosing the furniture. Clara had found a beautiful white crib with delicate detailing, a matching changing table, and a small dresser for Jullian's clothes. They also picked out a plush, cream-colored rocking chair that would be perfect for late-night feedings and cuddles.

Next came the fun part—decorating. Clara had a vision in mind: a woodland-themed nursery with soft, natural colors and whimsical touches. She found a beautiful crib set with woodland animals—deer, foxes, and owls—embroidered on the blankets and pillows. She hung a matching mobile above the crib, with little felt animals that danced and swayed with the slightest breeze.

They added small shelves to the walls to hold a collection of children's books and soft, cuddly stuffed animals. Chris and Elizabeth picked out a few of their own favorite toys to add to the collection, eager to share a part of their childhood with their new baby brother.

Michael, always thoughtful, suggested adding a nightlight. "You know," he said, "something soft that can help Jullian feel safe at night." Clara smiled at his suggestion, touched by his thoughtfulness. They found a lovely owl-shaped nightlight that cast a gentle, calming glow when turned on.

As the weeks passed, the nursery slowly came together. Each piece of furniture, each decoration, and each tiny detail was chosen with care and love. The room began to take on a life of its own, transforming from a simple spare room into a beautiful, serene space that radiated warmth and love.

One evening, after the kids had gone to bed, Clara and William stood together in the finished nursery, admiring their work. The room was perfect—a peaceful sanctuary for their new son, filled with all the things he would need and more. Clara felt a swell of pride as she looked around, her heart full of love and anticipation.

"It's beautiful," she whispered, leaning into William's side.

William nodded, his arm wrapped around her shoulders. "It is," he agreed softly. "You've done an amazing job, Clara. Jullian is going to love it."

Clara smiled, resting her head against his shoulder. "We've done an amazing job," she corrected gently. "I couldn't have done this without you, William."

They stood in silence for a moment, simply enjoying the peace of the nursery and the quiet anticipation of what was to come. Clara could almost hear the soft sounds of a baby's laughter, the gentle creak of the rocking chair as she rocked Jullian to sleep, the soft rustle of blankets as he snuggled down in his crib. She could already feel the warmth of his tiny body in her arms, the soft, delicate weight of him against her chest.

"I can't wait to bring him home," Clara murmured, her voice filled with emotion. "I can't wait to hold him, to see his face, to watch him grow in this room."

William squeezed her shoulders gently, his own heart full. "Neither can I," he replied. "He's going to be so loved, Clara. He's going to have everything he needs right here."

As they stood there, dreaming of the future, they knew that they were ready. Ready for the sleepless nights and the early mornings, the feedings and the diaper changes, the first smiles and the first steps. They were ready to welcome Jullian into their lives, to love him with everything they had, and to create a lifetime of memories in this beautiful little nursery.
