The news of Clara's pregnancy filled the Afton household with a whirlwind of emotions. After the initial shock and excitement, Clara and William knew they had to share the news with their three children. They wanted to make it a special moment, something that would bring the family closer and help the children feel involved in welcoming their new sibling.

That evening, after dinner, Clara and William gathered Michael, Chris, and Elizabeth in the living room. The children, sensing something was up, sat down on the couch with curious expressions. Michael, being the oldest at 15, leaned back with his arms crossed, trying to act indifferent, but his eyes gave away his interest. Chris, at 12, looked more anxious, always cautious about changes. Little Elizabeth, only 5, bounced with excitement, eager to hear what her parents had to say.

Clara exchanged a glance with William, her heart beating a little faster. She took a deep breath and smiled at her children. "We have some very special news to share with you all," she began, her voice warm and steady. "You're going to have a new baby brother or sister."

For a moment, there was silence as the children processed the information. Elizabeth's face lit up with pure joy. "A baby?" she squealed, clapping her hands. "I'm going to be a big sister!"

William chuckled at Elizabeth's enthusiasm and nodded. "Yes, you are, sweetheart. You're all going to be big siblings."

Michael's face remained neutral, but Clara could see the wheels turning in his head. "Another baby?" he finally said, his tone more contemplative than anything. "I mean, that's cool, I guess. But, are you sure, Mom?"

Clara smiled softly at her eldest son. "Yes, Michael, we're sure. It was a surprise to us too, but it's a good surprise. We're excited, and we hope you will be too."

Chris, on the other hand, had a more worried look on his face. He glanced at his parents, then at Michael, then down at his hands. "But... where will the baby sleep?" he asked quietly. "And... what if it cries a lot? Will it be like when Elizabeth was born?"

Clara reached out and gently took Chris's hand, squeezing it reassuringly. "I know it's a lot to think about, sweetie. But we'll make sure the baby has a nice place to sleep, and we'll all work together to help take care of him or her. Just like we did when Elizabeth was born."

Chris nodded slowly, still looking unsure but trusting his mother's words. Michael, sensing his younger brother's worry, put a hand on Chris's shoulder. "It'll be okay, Chris," he said, trying to sound reassuring. "We'll just have to be patient. It'll be different, but we'll get used to it."

Elizabeth, still bouncing with excitement, looked up at her parents with wide eyes. "Can I help take care of the baby, too?" she asked eagerly. "I want to help feed it and play with it and... and..." She trailed off, overwhelmed by all the things she wanted to do.

Clara laughed, her heart warming at her daughter's excitement. "Of course, you can help, Elizabeth. You're going to be a wonderful big sister. And you too, Michael and Chris. The baby is going to be so lucky to have all of you."

William nodded in agreement. "It's going to be a big change, but we'll do it together, like we always do. And who knows, maybe you'll even have fun teaching the baby new things."

Michael finally cracked a smile, his initial reservations softening. "Yeah, I guess it could be kinda fun," he admitted. "I mean, I'm practically an expert at being a big brother by now."

Clara and William exchanged a loving glance, relieved to see their children starting to embrace the idea. The room was filled with a mixture of excitement, curiosity, and a little bit of apprehension, but overall, it felt right.

Over the next few days, the news settled in, and the children began to ask more questions about the baby. Michael, always the curious one, wanted to know about when the baby would arrive and if he could help pick out names. Chris, still a bit nervous, asked more practical questions—about the baby's room, what it would eat, and how they would manage with another sibling around. Elizabeth, of course, was full of endless excitement, drawing pictures of the baby and asking if it would like her toys.

Clara and William answered each question with patience and love, making sure each child felt included in the process. They wanted their children to know that this new addition to the family was something they were all a part of, something they could all share in and look forward to.

As the days turned into weeks, the initial apprehension faded, and the Afton household began to buzz with a new kind of energy. The children started to imagine their future with a new baby sibling, and even Chris's worry turned into a quiet excitement. Michael began to think about how he could help out as the oldest, while Elizabeth couldn't wait to become the best big sister ever.

The Afton family was preparing for a new chapter, one filled with the promise of new beginnings and the joy of welcoming another member into their fold. And while there would be challenges and changes ahead, they knew that, together, they could face anything. After all, they were a family—and there was nothing more important than that.
