You and Azriel stared at each other. Well this is rather awkward, isn't it?

both of you took off your shoes to prevent ruining the currently spotless floor and stood in the centre of the room.

The room was pretty small, but it was still big enough to house two people. There was a large window with curtains and a basic, single bed on both sides of it along with a wide drawer in the middle. There was also a small kitchen area and two bean bags in front of a coffee table. Another door led to the bathroom. Some smaller windows were also built, but the main one would be the one in the middle of the beds. You were kind of surprised all of this could fit in this tiny room.

"Uh... you take that bed and I'll take this one." Azriel pointed to the bed on the right and went up to it, dusting off the non-existent dust on the sheets before sitting down. You mirrored his actions, finally lieing down. You placed your phone and money on top of the drawer . {Is it lying, lieing or laying? 😭}

It felt really weird sleeping in the same room as him. Sure, you were best friends, but you had never been allowed to sleepovers so it felt awkward to you.

Azriel sighed, getting comfortable on the new bed. "It's been a long day, hasn't it?" He ran a hand down his face, memories of his family flashing through his mind as they were now out of reach.

You couldn't help but agree. "It has. But we still need to get up early. After all, we need to buy clothes, find a job and train with weapons." Upon receiving no response, you looked over only to notice the boy fast asleep. 'Must've been extremely tired...'

Now that you finally had a chance to be alone with your thoughts, everything just came rushing in. Your mother, your cousins, your friends... everyone you've been acquainted with. You missed them.

Your mother was very strict, but it would be a lie to say she didn't care. She cared a lot. In fact, she was only strict because she wanted you to be strong and independent. She didn't want you to end up like her. She was way too reliant on her husband, and it all went downhill after he died in that horrifying car crash.

You were the only company she had left, she couldn't afford to lose you, otherwise she'll be completely broken. Financially and emotionally. Everyone else she had was out of reach.

Your financial state was so bad you had to give up on your dreams from a young age and work towards a job that'll pay enough for you to actually live, not just survive. Your mother didn't want you to — she wanted you to focus on your dreams, but you refused. You had to support her.

However, you still wanted a dream. So you made it an impossible dream, because you knew it would never come true. It was a stupid yet pure dream , but it also motivated you to work harder in false hope of achieving that dream for both you and your mother. And that dream was to get enough money to bring your father back somehow. Yet it would all be in vain anyway, he's already gone.

You remembered back when you were around 15, going through a mental crisis and she was the only one who comforted you, made you feel safe and valued.

Yet now, that was all but a distant memory. Only now are you realising just how much you need her, and how much she needs you.

You can't even imagine how she must feel right now, all alone at home. Her only child gone from her life too.
