12| Boyfriend Material

~To The Story~

After a few days, you recovered completely. You originally planned on going back to school literally one day after you got sick, but a certain pesky redhead kept insisting that you stay in bed longer. As annoyed as you were, you knew it was for the best and listened to him. Besides, you doubt your constant sneezing in the middle of class would be welcomed.

As happy as you were for getting better, you were also feeling quite dreadful knowing you were going to have to take up more time to catch up on what you missed.

"You okay?" Karma asks you. The two of you were at the front door, ready to leave for school. "You look like shit."

You glared at him, feeling a mixture of offence and annoyance. It was the truth, however. You saw yourself in the mirror and you gotta say, you've seen better days. The funny part is that you clearly don't look as bad as you did when you were sick. Your only excuse you can give for looking like this is 'cause you had trouble sleeping last night. The only thing on your mind was the amount of stuff you missed at school and the stress was eating you away.

"Thank you, Karma." You said sarcastically. You sighed tiredly and rubbed your eyes. "I'm just a little tired, that's all."

"Hm." Karma stares quietly for a bit at you before breaking into a grin. "It must be the bed. Feel free to use my bed tonight. It's big enough for the both of us."

"You--" The heat on your cheeks spread like wildfire at the invite. "D-don't say those things!"

Ugh, sometimes, you wish you could tape his mouth shut. You were ready to ignore this guy for the whole way, but Karma hasn't said a word since the two of you left his place. You don't comment on his odd silence since your mind was too preoccupied with far more important stuff.

Because of all the rain that has occurred over the past few days, there have been many puddles throughout the streets. On your way to school, you came across a large puddle at the crosswalk. Karma casually hopped over it, and as large as it was, you felt as though you'd be able to jump over it.

Just as you were about to take a leap, Karma turned around and extended his hand towards you.

You blinked and for a second, you internally questioned what he was doing even if it was quite obvious. He wants you to take his hand. And once you realized what he was doing, you felt your cheeks warm up.

You slowly reached your hand out and almost pulled back out of shyness, but eventually took his hand. With Karma's help, you jumped over the puddle with ease, though you did accidentally hit his chest when he pulled you a little roughly. It was as though that was his plan all along.

You winced and almost backed up remembering there was a large puddle behind you. When you opened your eyes and looked up, you were met with Karma's boyish smile.

"Haha, you okay?"

You were so close to him. If you were the same height, your noses would have bumped into each other. Or perhaps even kissed him accidentally.

You shyly darted your eyes to the side to escape his gaze. "Y-yeah. Thanks."

Karma smiles amusingly at your reaction. He was glad that despite how tired you looked, Karma was able to see such a cute reaction. That's good. He doesn't want you sulking the entire day. But since he couldn't stand there forever and stare at your pretty face, he kept walking but continued to hold your hand.

"I--" Karma pulled you along before you could say anything else. Is this okay? Don't only couples hold hands like this? But you guys aren't a couple.

You're fifteen and have never once been in a relationship. You've never been interested in one nor felt compelled enough to even think about such a topic. So, yeah, it's safe to say you were confused as to what was going on. You did have the boyfriend talk with your grandfather though. Only recently, however. When he noticed how much you were growing, he would warn you and tell you to be careful around boys and who you chose to date. Trust your gut, he would tell you.
