~To The Story~

You tapped the tip of your pencil against your notebook, trying to understand the formula in your textbook. You weren't sure if it was you or the way these steps were written in your book because nothing was making any sense. Yes, you fully admit that math was never your best subject. However, you were capable enough to understand the material so long as someone explained it to you.

That was the teacher's job. And since the teacher has moved on from this chapter, you were stuck figuring this out all on your own.

You sighed and rubbed your forehead.

"Grandpa was good at math," you mumbled, remembering the times you would always go to him for help when it came to anything that had to do with numbers.

'Should I ask Asano-kun for help?'

He was the first person you met on your first day at Kunugigaoka. He's the student council president and was obligated to give you a rundown on how the school worked and even a tour. When he finished, he told you that he offers to help students who are struggling with their courses. He does have the highest grade in the school so perhaps it would be worth your time.

You scratched your head.

'Okay, if I don't understand this by tonight, I'll ask him for help tomorrow.'

A moment of distraction was given to you when you heard the doorbell ring.

You glance up, expecting to hear Karma's footsteps coming down the stairs to answer the door, but all you heard was the sound of the doorbell ringing again. Obviously, since you don't officially live here, there is no reason for you to open the door.

The doorbell rang again.

You look up the stairs. No sign of Karma coming downstairs. He's here for sure, so why isn't he coming downstairs?

You sighed and got up.

Karma probably doesn't want to answer the door, or maybe he just didn't hear the doorbell ring. Well, whatever. The doorbell rang for a fifth time when you finally opened the door to get them to stop.

"Hi, Karma-kun--"

The person on the other side paused when he realizes that it was not the fiery hair boy, but rather a girl. A girl he has never seen before.

Though, you have seen this person before. You saw her hanging out with Karma a few days ago.

"Uh..." Nagisa furrowed his brows before glancing around the exterior of the house to confirm this was Karma's house.

Sensing his confusion, you decided to speak up.

"Hi. You're here for that redhead, right? Are you his girlfriend?"

Nagisa dropped his shoulder and sighed. You thought he was upset about you confusing him for being Karma's romantic partner, but no, he was upset for an entirely different reason.

"I'm a boy."

You stupidly blink at him.

"O-oh." The colour red clouded your cheeks. "S-sorry."

As tired as Nagisa is for people to assume he is a girl, he couldn't blame anyone if they did, nor could he blame you. His mother has made it her life mission to make sure her son looks like a girl.

You cleared your throat, ready to go and find Karma as an excuse to leave this awkward moment. "I'll go get Karm- Eek!"

When you turned around, you almost collided with the redhead.
