SHATTERED LOVE

CHAPTER FIVE

Elena could feel her body trembling, the way Keith looked at her, made her feel that she was the only woman in his life. She didn't know what was going on, and what his plans were, but it made her feel like there was a big scheme behind his actions and treatments towards her. Gusto niya ipakita dito na hindi siya basta magpapagamit sa kung ano plano nito sa kanya, kahit pa frustrated at magulo ang kanyang isip ngayon ay kailangan niya kausapin ito ng sarilinan.

"There is something wrong with you Keith, I don't know what you're up to. You're one of the worst people that I've ever met! Do you have any idea what I feel right now?! What did my grandfather tell you? Did he ask you to be nice to me because that's part of your business deal? Because I'm sick and tired of people like you!" Elena shouted at Keith, tears were falling down her cheeks, like a faucet that couldn't be stopped.

They were in the dining room, and Elena was not in the mood to eat anything. Even if it's the most delicious food that is on top of the dining table, that Keith requested for her. Before Keith could speak, he gave the signal to his butler Loida and to the two servants to leave them alone, and then they gladly obeyed.

"Elena, I know that I've treated you like shit these past few weeks, but your grandfather was not aware of all of this. I have my mind and heart, Elena, and I don't take orders from anyone, especially not your grandfather. Yes, we are a business partner, but my relationship with you is way different from theirs." Keith said calmly. He can that see Elena is shaking right now, and the way she looks at her like he's kind of a big threat to her.

"I don't trust you, Keith, the way you changed how you treat me is too good to be true. Your sympathy with me is unnecessary, I don't need it! because you have no idea what it feels like to be useless and frustrated! All I want is to be free from all of this, I've suffered enough for the past seven years! I cannot take this any longer!!" Elena raged, she felt that she had to let this out of her system because it was killing her.

Keith could see the desperation in Elena's eyes, he knew how she felt. He had his dark past through the years and until now they hunted him like a nightmare every day, killing him gently just like Elena felt. The only choice he had now to change her mind was to share information about her past that no one knew except himself and the private investigator he hired six years ago.

" I came to help you, Elena, and if you want to give justice to what happened to your sister, and your mother, you have to trust me. I know that you have lots of questions----"

Elena interrupted him. "What are you talking about Keith?! Don't you dare use what happened to my mother and sister to get to me!" She shouted at him, her eyes full of anger, and Elena stepped forward to Keith before she spoke again. "I'm done with my life, Keith, even you can't stop me from ending my life. I have no reason to live in this world." After Elena said that, she turned away from him and left the dining room.

But Keith followed her up the stairs. He would never give up on her, not this time. He would make sure that Elena listens to what he has to say. No matter what happens, Keith will do everything he can to win Elena's heart. He'd been desperate all these years, longing for her, and Keith would not waste this chance to be with the woman he loved the most.

"Elena, please, I'm begging you. You have to listen to me. I know this is crazy, but I believe that your grandfather has something to do with what happened to your mother and sister seven years ago." Keith took a risk this time because he believed that Elena would be his asset to her grandfather's scheme.

"Why would I listen to you, Keith? I don't even know you at all. What did my grandfather do to you personally that you------"

Keith interrupted her. "Because I can bring justice for your sister and mother. I'm telling you, those men who were responsible for the tragic event seven years ago are still out there, your grandfather protected them!"

Elena's eyes widened, and tears kept falling down her cheeks. She felt a strong punch in her stomach that made her body tremble. Before she faintly fell, Keith immediately caught her with his strong arms. He embraced Elena gently, caressing her back, then carried her in a bridal style. "Everything is going to be alright, Elena, I promise you." He murmured. Keith opened the bedroom door, walked inside, and gently placed Elena on the bed.

Five hours later, Elena woke up from her sleep, her heart and mind were in a mess. She couldn't believe what Keith told her, that her grandfather had something to do with her sister and mother's brutal death. Elena sat up in her bed, trying to calm her heart and mind, she didn't want to trust Keith, but she had no choice. Elena was determined to know why her sister and mother got killed. Because the only thing she knew was that they were just the unfortunate victims of robbers and killers. Now, it makes sense why her grandfather and father did not allow her to go to her mother and sister's funeral. Elena never saw her mother and sister after their brutal death, even though she requested it from her psychiatrist. Maybe those men were at the funeral before, and her grandfather was with them. She was the only eyewitness to the tragedy, the only thing that her father told her was those killers are put in jail, and justice is served. Unfortunately, her father lied to her, she thinks that there are some other dark secrets in her family that she could never imagined. Elena wants to know the truth, she doesn't care about Keith's true purpose if he's planning to use her in his scheme so is she.

A few minutes later, someone opened the bedroom door and it was Butler Loida, carrying a silver tray with a white bowl and a glass of water and juice. She placed it on the side table next to the sofa. Before she could speak, Butler Loida walked toward Elena and said "Lady Elena, I'm aware that you haven't eaten anything since you arrived, I bought you a chicken creamy soup if you want to eat." her voice was calm but firm.

Elena stood from her bed, then put on her slippers, she didn't have an appetite, so she ignored Butler Loida and walked toward the door because she wanted to talk to Keith, but before she could step outside the bedroom one little girl accidentally bumped her.

"Ouch!" the little girl said while touching her forehead. She wears a delicate white dress that falls gracefully around her. Her eyes are like shimmering pools full of wonder and curiosity. "Sino po kayo?" she asked innocently, her face round and cherubic with rosy cheeks that hint at her boundless energy.

Before Elena could answer the little girl, Butler Loida walked towards them and spoke. "Nadia, I told you not to run around the house. Where is your sister?"

" She's in our room" Nadia answered her grandmother, then she spoke again. "Lola nagugutom na po ako." Her voice was complaining, then she pouted her lips.

"Well, you just need to wait a little longer. Look at yourself, tell your sister to----"

Before Butler Loida could continue what she was saying another girl interrupted her and spoke. "Nadia, can you just be a good girl for once in your life? I told you to take a shower first before coming here." Her voice was irritated, she was trying to be calm but she couldn't help but be annoyed by her sister. She looks like a ten-year-old girl, her hair is a cascade of silky waves, and she has sparkling eyes that seem to hold a world of curiosity and warmth, wearing a dark gray t-shirt and white leggings, plus black flip-flops.

Elena stood behind the door for a moment, she was starting to feel comfortable with the two girls in front of her, and apparently, she also recognized both of them, ang dalawang magkapatid na ito ang nakita niya kanina sa tabing dagat na naglalaro. She looked at them like they were the most lovable creatures that she'd seen in her life. "Ma'am Loida, please assist your grandchildren with dinner so that they can eat. I'm fine, and I don't need your service for now."

"What is your name Miss? " Nadia asked Elena again, then she innocently smiled at her.

"Elena." After Elena said that, she smiled at the two girls and walked away from them, she planned to talk to Keith, kung totoo nga na kaya siya tulungan nito para magkaroon ng hustisya ang pagkamatay ng kanyang kapatid at ina, at least ito ang kanyang panghahawakan ngayon para magpatuloy sa buhay.
