THE GROUP WATCHED AS THE BLACK STEMS BEGAN SUCCUMBING THE BRAIN OF TS-19. Until the lights of the brain had flickered off, the digram of the subject went lifeless ━━ went dead. The lights that once represented memories, emotions, thoughts and traits of humanity were now silenced by the growing infection shown. Some of those in the group glanced away, unwilling to accept the new reality they had been thrusted into. Tears brimmed some of their eyes, whilst others stared at the screen unwaveringly.

"Then death," Jenner explained. "Everything you ever were or ever will be . . . gone." Jenner turned and glanced around the group he had hesitantly brought in, violating the codes of conduct he was to follow when first signing up to be a staff member of the Centre of Disease Control. He noticed the heavy expressions laid on their faces, tears trailing down their faces, as well as the confusion when trying to process the information given.

"She lost somebody two days ago." Jenner diverted his gaze away from Andrea, the blonde woman who held back the tears glistening against the light within her eyes, over to Lori as the woman began to explain her pain. "Her sister."

Jenner nodded his head considerably, inching towards the pained blonde. "I lost somebody too," he comforted. "I know how devastating it is." Andrea met the man's gaze, nodding slightly before Jenner pulled away, glancing at the computers once again. "Scan to the second event." The diagram shown began loading. The same lifeless diagram of the autonomy of the brain was shown. "The resurrection times vary wildly. We have reports of it happening in as little to three minutes. The longest we heard of was eight hours. In the case of this patient, it was two hours, one minute, seven seconds."

The group watched closely, noticing the change. The black flickered red light ━━ contrasting heavily from the blue that the brain had once originated from, full of humanity. Now it was full of blood-thirst as the diagram, yet still lifeless.

Lori inched forward. "It restarts the brain?"

"No, just the brain stem," Jenner corrected. "Basically gets them up and moving." Rick stepped forward, asking the question brewing in his mind. They're not alive? A simple question, yet the answer seemed complicated as the science behind whatever infection had spread displayed on the screens in front of their eyes. Jenner only gestured to the data. "You tell me."

"It's nothing like before," Rick affirmed. "Most of that brain is dark."

"Dark, lifeless, dead," the scientist listed. "The frontal lope, the neocortex: the human partthat doesn't come back. The you part. Just a . . . shell, driven by mindless instinct." As much as the group attempted in concentrating on Jenner's words, seeing the figure began to squirm, its jaw gaping open and closed, caught their attention before a flicker of light occurred. But when that light had faded after a moment, a hole that striked through the image now presented itself within the brain.
