burnt to smithereens━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
TYREECE HAD ALWAYS BEEN PERCEIVED AS CALM, WHICH IS WHY MATTHEW FOUND IT UNUSUAL TO SEE THE MAN SO DISTURBED. Matthew had heard the incoming footsteps heading toward them before he even caught a glimpse of the man, quickly grasping the attention of him, Daryl, Carol and Rick. The men peered at each other before following Tyreece as he had quickly rushed off, ushering them to follow. His steps were dedicated, and his expression screamed with dismay. Quite frankly, it worried Matthew greatly.
Matthew was the first in taking the lead of following Tyreece, keeping his steps fast and light as he caught up with the man leading them outback of the prison. Immediately, a stench overwhelmed his senses ━━━ a smell that caused his eyes to burn with tears, his nose itching and his throat seemingly closing in on him. The stench of burning mixed with the undeniable smell of death filtered his senses, reaching his hand to his nose as he bit back the bile building in the back of his throat, making him feel the need to gag.
Daryl, Carol and Rick stood behind him as they crossed the hallways, exiting the prison to the back. Their eyes settled to the floor where Tyreece directed, their faces contorting into shock when catching sight of the bodies sprayed across the floor. Ashes surrounded them, their facial expressions unrecognisable as they had been burnt to a crisp. Their flesh had been melted, their bodies still smoking. Tyreece could barely form words as he explained how he came across the scene, only gesturing to the inside of the prison where they had come out from. "You found them like this?" Rick asked, still processing the scene beyond them.
Tyreece barely nodded his head, peering back at the man for a mere second before his widened eyes faced the bodies once more. "I came to see Karen . . . and I saw the blood on the floor." Matthew noticed the waver of the man's voice, the shock and horror of the scene plaguing his expressions. He had seen something like this before, only to a much larger extent: Beth.
Witnessing the murder of their mother who Hershel kept cooped in the barn of their farm when the man believed and labelled them to be 'sick' caused a heavy strain on Beth. It became the cause of her entering a vegetative state where she was unresponsive to anything occurring around her. The man remembered the fear when seeing his sister, grasping her hand tightly by the side of the bed, praying to God with what little faith he had remaining. But even when she had woke up, Matthew never labelled it to be of God's work. The God watching over them ━━━ the one Matthew had gone to school to study about, spending hours on memorising the Lord's words ━━━ wasn't merciful. He had learned that quickly, losing the last spark of hope he had left.
Tyreece glanced back to the bodies after gesturing to the path of blood staining the prisons floors, the outside's floor painted. "Then I smelled them." Matthew knew Tyreece would be explosive within the state of mind he was currently enduring, yet he still clenched his jaw when the man began yelling. "Somebody dragged them out here and set them on fire! They killed them and set them on fire!" A beat of silence commenced as their eyes dipped to the bodies before Tyreece inched towards Rick, the man's wrath clearly seen through his body movements. As he stood up to Rick, Daryl and Matthew were quick in inching closer, standing behind the man, prepared to dial down the situation if needed. "You a cop. You find out who did this and you bring 'em to me. You understand? You bring 'em to me!"
