It's been less than two weeks since the attack by Lucerys Velaryon. Aemond instigated the war between the greens and the blacks, and it was clear that he couldn't seek his brother with his dragon. Both he and the green council were aware that his half-sister was coming to claim her crown and seek vengeance against Aemond Targaryen.

Queen Rhaenyra stood on the rock where her son had been killed by her half-brother, gazing into the distance in the hope of finding her son. She hasn't been able to eat, sleep, or talk since the day her husband delivered the news.

After not successfully locating her son, she soared back to Dragonstone on the back of her magnificent yellow dragon, Syrax. The dragon keeper brought her dragon to her husband's dragon, Caraxes.

As the two women strolled through the castle corridors, the princess and her lady-in-waiting, Elinda Massey, made their way to the chamber that belonged to Rhaenyra and Daemon. As the queen approached, two knights stood guard at the chamber beside the door. One of the knights opened the door as they saw the queen heading their way.

In the chambers, the Queen entered to find Ser Lorent Marbrand standing next to her husband. Her husband was seated at his desk, poring over a scroll of letters with a look of overwhelmed concentration on his face. Upon noticing the Queen's arrival, Ser Lorent quietly informed Daemon that his wife had arrived. He looked up from the letter that had been sent.

"May I have the room with the Queen?" Daemon informed the ladies and Ser Lorent. They acknowledged the prince and left the room promptly.

As hearing the door closed behind Rhaenyra, he gently lifted his hand and gestured for his wife to come. She walked over to him, still wearing the same pained expression she had been wearing for weeks.

"There was a letter sent," Daemon spoke to his wife, she could not bear to meet his gaze. It had been weeks since she last looked into his eyes. Daemon displeased.

Rhaenyra couldn't bring herself to meet Daemon's gaze in their conversation. Each time he attempted to engage her, she averted her eyes, her gaze fixed firmly on the floor. He reached out to touch the letter that had arrived, clasping his hands together, Rhaenyra's eyes remained cast downwards, unwilling to confront the burdens and troubles conveyed in missives from other houses.

"It's was written in High Valyrain." She listened to her husband's words attentively, but her gaze remained fixed on something floor.

"It's from Lucerys." The Queen looked up quickly at her husband as her heart skipped a beat upon hearing her son's name coming out of Daemon's mouth.

"What?" She struggled to find belief in what Daemon had said to her.

The letter is handed to her as Rhaenyra walks over to her husband and gently retrieves it from his grasp. She unfolds the parchment and reads its contents, her expression quickly changing. She is overcome with emotion, her body swaying as she absorbs the words on the page.

Her husband, noticing her distress, instinctively reaches out and places a supportive hand on her waist, steadying her to prevent her from collapsing.

The truth is, I don't feel ready to come back after everything that happened with Aemond. I just wanted to reach out to assure you that I am still alive and well.)

Lucerys Velaryon

"He's alive." She felt an overwhelming sense of relief knowing that he was still alive.
