Book sat at his desk in the company office, staring blankly at the roof. His mind was far from the scripts that filled the room.
Instead, it was consumed with worry about the meeting between Force and Chen. He knew things had been tense since everything happened, and the last thing he wanted was for there to be a fight because of him. He checked his watch for what felt like the hundredth time, hoping for a sign, any sign, that Force was back.
Suddenly, the door to the office creaked open, and Book's heart skipped a beat. He looked up to see Force entering the room, his expression calm and composed. Without thinking, Book jumped up from his chair and sprinted towards him.
"Force!" Book exclaimed, throwing his arms around him.
Force barely had time to react before Book's arms were wrapped tightly around him, pulling him into a desperate embrace.
They stood there, holding each other, as the seconds turned into minutes. The warmth of the hug was comforting, but there was a heaviness in the silence that lingered between them.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Book slowly pulled away, his hands lingering on Force's shoulders.
"How did the meeting go with Chen?" Book asked, his voice trembling slightly, eyes searching Force's face for any sign of distress. The concern in his eyes was palpable.
Force smiled softly, a reassuring light in his eyes. "Everything's fine, Book. Most importantly, Chen is fine."
Book let out a sigh of relief, his shoulders relaxing as the weight of worry began to lift. "Did Chen say anything about when he's coming back?" he asked, though there was a cautious note in his voice, bracing himself for the answer.
Force's expression grew a bit more serious as he replied, "He said he needs some time to feel normal around you again."
Book nodded, understanding but also feeling a pang of guilt. He looked down, but Force wasn't having it. Gently, he cupped Book's face in his hands, lifting his chin so their eyes met.
"Don't blame yourself for anything, ever again," Force said firmly, his voice carrying both warmth and a touch of authority.
Book stared into Force's eyes, seeing the sincerity there. A small smile tugged at the corners of his lips, and he leaned into Force's touch. "Thank you, Force," he whispered, his voice soft.
Force smiled back, and without another word, Book wrapped his arms around him again, pulling him into another hug.
This time, the hug felt different—lighter, as if some of the weight had been lifted from their shoulders. They stood there in each other's arms, knowing that whatever challenges lay ahead, they would face them together.
