She surveyed the hall and noticed everyone was in tears. She fixed her gaze on her grandpa's guard, knowing his responsibility for poisoning her grandpa, she got to know about this in her past life. She regretted her past emotional naivety.
Kings from other countries paid their respects to her grandpa, the same ones who had betrayed Anika along with Haesoo in her past life.
A king approached and said, "Sorry for your loss, your Highness!" to her, casting a pitying glance at Anika.
Anika slightly nodded her head.
Jimin entered the hall and marched straight to Anika, his expression fierce. "He is here!" he whispered, positioning himself behind her.
Then, Physician Bhairav arrived, known to Anika from her past life. Although it was troublesome to bring him to the palace, Anika trusted his expertise.
"Why did you call for me, your Highness?" he inquired, paying his respects to Anika's grandpa as he addressed her.
Anika announced, "I suspect my grandpa was poisoned! Check him!" Gossip and gasps erupted among the onlookers.
"Why do you suspect this?" questioned Physician Bhairav, approaching the casket.
"His lips and nails are blue!" Anika pointed out as the physician nodded in agreement.
The physician signalled to his assistant to fetch a kit, and they proceeded with their examination. After a few minutes, they confirmed the poison.
The kings in the hall gasped.
"Who could have done such a thing? they should be punished by death" A king spoke as citizens of the country tried to push the guards and take a look at their lovable king.
My grandpa was the greatest king this world has ever seen.
He was kind, caring and fierce in battle. He protected his people with his life.
Anika looked at the guard, who was slightly sweating.
"You! Come forward!" Anika ordered pointing at the guard.
He widened his eyes before sprinting away in fear.
But Jimin chased him and held his collar, slapped him across his face, and dragged him towards Anika, pushing him on his knees in front of Anika.
"Who told you to poison my grandfather!" Anika looked down at him with a death glare.
"Your Highness! Spare me!! I committed a grave sin!!" He bowed down.
Anika smirked, knowing he couldn't confess.
He can't! Because if he opened his mouth, his family would be murdered.
"Confess or die!" Anika looked down as he shivered.
"Forgive me, your Highness!" He said, standing up and holding his sword.
Jimin quickly shielded her, holding his sword, ready to behead the guard.
Guard slit his own throat and fell.
The crowd gasped.
Anika smirked and walked towards her grandpa.
She bent down.
"Thank you for the second chance, Grandpa! I will use it well this time! I'll send everyone who wronged you and me, to you! Punish them yourself!" Anika kissed his forehead standing up.
With the corner of her eye, she noticed Salina was panicking. Anika smirked.
The Council of the kingdom conducted a meeting and finalized that they would surely find the culprit behind the king's death.
