── .✦ THE SOFT HUM OF THE MORNING greeted yn as she slowly opened her eyes, the quiet stillness of the early hour wrapping around her like a gentle embrace. the room was still dimly lit, bathed in the soft hues of dawn, with only the faintest slivers of sunlight managing to break through the heavy curtains. the air was cool and crisp, carrying with it the promise of a new day, yet for yn, there was a heaviness that seemed to linger, pulling at the edges of her consciousness.

she stretched out in her bed, savoring the momentary comfort of the cool sheets against her skin. normally, the mornings offered her a sense of peace, a time when she could collect her thoughts before the busyness of the day took over. but today, that peace was elusive, overshadowed by the ache of anticipation that had settled in her chest. today marked the beginning of another day, another week, another stretch of time where she would be apart from ran. the thought of the weeks ahead, filled with her usual routine yet lacking his presence, filled her with a deep, lingering sense of longing.

with a sigh, yn finally pushed herself out of bed, the weight of her emotions making the movement feel heavier than usual. she had always prided herself on her ability to stay positive, to find joy in the simple moments that life had to offer. but today, her thoughts seemed to have a mind of their own, stubbornly gravitating towards ran, refusing to be distracted by the tasks that lay ahead.

she padded over to the window, her bare feet silent against the cool floor. drawing back the curtains, she let the morning light spill into the room, hoping it might chase away the shadows that had settled in her heart. but as the golden rays warmed her skin, they only seemed to intensify the longing she felt. the distance between them, once something she could bear with the knowledge that it was temporary, now felt more daunting with each passing day.

yn's mind drifted to the last time she had seen him, the memory so vivid it was almost as if he were still there. she could recall the warmth of his smile, the way his eyes had softened when they met hers, and the way he had held her close as if he, too, wished the moment could last forever. but now, those moments were just memories, and the reality of their separation was a cold, hard truth that she couldn't escape.

she knew they had to be strong, that they had both committed to this path knowing it wouldn't always be easy. but knowing and feeling were two very different things, and today, the distance felt like a chasm too wide to cross. it wasn't just the physical miles between them, but the days and weeks that stretched out ahead, a seemingly endless expanse of time where they would live their lives separately, connected only by the top familiar message or phone call.

as she stood there, staring out at the world beyond her window, yn tried to remind herself of the positives, of the love that had grown between them despite the challenges. she knew they were strong enough to endure this, that their connection was something special, something worth fighting for. but even as she repeated these thoughts in her mind, the ache in her chest remained, a quiet, persistent reminder of how much she missed him.
