Heeseung's POV
I stole glances at her as we walked. Ari, although proven to be clumsy when she fell from the ladder earlier, strode gracefully down the hall. I was so preoccupied with looking at her that I didn't know how far behind I truly was until she rounded a corner and I lost sight of her.
"Wait up!" I hollered.
I started running behind her and as I neared her she turned around and stuck her tongue out at me.
"Can't catch me!" she shrieked, starting to run as she laughed and blew raspberries.
She looked so carefree. I wondered if maybe she was the inspiration I was looking for. Ari seemed like such a vibrant, breathtaking person, and I wanted to get to know her. I thought back to earlier. She appeared to be unused to flirting, given the way she responded to what I said. I had been surprised because I had assumed men, and women, would be lining up to try and get with her. I couldn't believe her inexperience.
Finally, we got to our rooms. Ari was struggling with her luggage that had just been delivered by an attendant, who was now gone. I intervened.
"Need some help?" I asked, wanting to spend more time with her.
"I don't want to bother you, but if it's not too much of a hassle, could you just help me put these inside?" she replied, looking relieved as she gestured to her three just barely closed suitcases.
I hefted one, lifting it with ease. While they looked heavy, they weren't very hard to carry. Ari looked awestruck.
"How was that so easy for you to pick up? It took me half off last night to get those in my car."
I shrugged as she used her keycard to open the door to her room. As I set it down and looked at her, I caught her staring at my chest. My shirt had provided a covered view of my torso that left little to the imagination, and it might have been part of my routine to go to the gym every day.
"What are you looking at?" I asked teasingly.
"N-Nothing!" she stuttered, embarrassed.
She was definitely checking me out. I brushed away the fluttering feelings that suddenly bloomed in me and hauled the rest of her luggage to her room.
"Do you know when we'll be leaving the dock?" I asked, not wanting her to leave just yet.
"I think they said we'll start in about 5-10 minutes." Ari said, seemingly sure of herself.
I had asked because I wanted to take a video of the submarine leaving. I decided to take my time to get ready. Just a minute later, I heard an announcement click on. The submarine was leaving now! Exasperated, I threw on a shirt with my hair half done and ran out the door.
Just as I left my room, the submarine listed. I was thrown to the opposite side of the hallway, on top of my beautiful neighbor. I caught my balance when I was just inches away from her. She smiled slowly, a sight for sore eyes.
"Who's falling for who now?" she said, glee evident in her face.
My face burned as I tried to muster a retort, unable to find one. I pulled her closer, attempting to prove her wrong in any way possible. I instantly regretted it. Now that we were this close, the urge to kiss her hit me even harder. I shook my head, trying to shake off the notion. Why did I want to kiss this girl I barely even knew? Ari looked at me with wide eyes, her shock evident in her gaze. I struggled to break through the daze she had put me into. How could I have not seen it before? She was gorgeous. Her allure was the kind that snuck up on you. At first, I had thought she was pretty, but not earth-shatteringly so. Now I saw it, in the steel of her eyes and strength in her stance. Her beauty was like that of a winter wonderland. It was sharply cut, yet breathtaking.
Suddenly, Ari pulled me impossibly closer.
"May I?" I whispered.
She nodded ever so slightly, to the point where if I hadn't been looking for the motion, rather yearning for it, I wouldn't have noticed. The submarine tilted yet again. This time, I didn't catch my balance before we collided. As we were thrown into the other side of the hallway, her lips brushed mine, and I turned my wish into reality. I pulled her to me, with one hand around her waist and the other at the nape of her neck.
At first, I gently kissed her, my lips moving against hers. I wanted the moment to last forever. When her lips parted of their own volition, I deepened the kiss, craving to know more of her. Ari responded with twin fervor. She tasted like winter, like refreshing pine and smooth hot chocolate. I had a feeling I'd keep coming back for more, addicted. We explored each other, the kiss a heady mix of desire and curiosity. I'd never felt this enchanted by someone before. I wouldn't, no, couldn't stop. The kiss went on for what seemed like forever, the universe itself at a standstill. We lost ourselves in each other.
Suddenly, Ari broke the kiss, gasping for air. Her hair, which just seconds ago had been pinned up in a flawless bun, was now disheveled. I could tell the submarine's unexpected movement wasn't the only reason all the pins fell out.
"Sorry that I ruined your hair." I said sheepishly.
She stared at me with disbelief before dashing back into her room and locking it. I stared at the gap between my arms where she had been just moments ago disbelievingly.
"Well that went well," I muttered, dejected that I'd just ruined my chances with the hottest girl on board because I couldn't control myself.
I touched my lips as I thought back to earlier. During the kiss, the minutes had swirled together, making it hard to tell how much time had passed, or if any had passed at all. In fact, it had seemed like time itself had stopped, it felt like our rushing hearts were the only noises in the world. Even if we hadn't kissed now, It was only a matter of time before I was pulled toward her like a moth to flame.
Still, I bristled, thinking about how quickly I had given into my want. Whoever this girl was, she was quickly scaling my mental walls. It really had been too long since my last relationship. Perhaps I needed yet another heartbreak to teach me. My gaze was rueful as I shot one last glance at Ari's room before going back inside mine.
Edit: Thank you so much for all the comments, reads, and votes. If anyone has any feedback or suggestions, please comment them. Also, just a question(it's ok if you don't respond just wanted to ask in case anyone had a specific request), when should I post the next chapter? I haven't written it yet but just wanted to give myself a deadline because I'm lazy as fuck. Thank you again!
