confide in you

𝐃𝐀𝐘𝐒 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐏𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐃 since Fontaine's most famed magician had found himself in a predicament that could have cost him his life. Miraculously, however, he appeared to be recovering just fine - being discharged from the infirmary just two days ago.

"Arlecchino," Y/N happened to catch the Harbinger at an appropriate moment, having wanted to talk to her for the longest time now. Arlecchino rose a brow in response, gesturing for Y/N to enter the room she had occupied.

"I'd like a moment of your time if that's fine with you?"

"Of course. Would you like a beverage of sorts?"

"No, I'm okay for the moment. Thank you, though."

Y/N took a seat opposite the Harbinger, who sipped from a steaming cup of tea. An eerie silence was quick to engulf the room, causing Y/N's heart to race slightly.

"Go on, I'm quite curious." Mused The Knave in curiosity, her keen eyes flitting from her cup to Y/N.

"I just..." Y/N begun, desperately trying to formulate a sentence within their jumbled mind that was somewhat coherent.

"Tartaglia states that I am safe," They breathed, "I'd like to know... How that is. Why is it finally now, after so many years that I am safe? How did you resolve this?"

The Knave's lips curled into that of a cruel grin, bringing her steaming cup up to them as she sipped from her tea delicately.

"Well, I hardly feel as if what I accomplished is worth noting." She begun firmly. "However, I feel I should comment that my meeting with The Tsaritsa was successful in many regards."

"Arlecchino, please. I need to know. All I've ever wanted - all I want - is some closure."

The desperation evident in Y/N's tone was difficult to miss. They yearned for the truth. They craved for the truth.

A short breath slipped past Arlecchino's lips as she pondered, tapping her claws against her thigh. Her eyes narrowed slightly as they settled on the person in front of them, who would do anything to uncover the truth.

"... I utterly despise that man. Truly, I do. Ever since unfortunately meeting him many years ago, I've wondered just how it is that he is an asset to the Fatui. In my eyes, he's that of a lowlife creature that I could find splayed across the bottom of my heels."

"As I've mentioned to you before, when he claimed you as his... Experiment, per say, I was adamant to free you of his horrid shackles. Hence why, day after day, year after year, I expressed my thoughts to The Tsaritsa herself in hopes of changing her views."

"I told The Tsaritsa that I didn't want that lowlife of a man anywhere near my children. I continued to further express my need to free you of him and his twisted ways - to have you under my authority. My protection."

The Knave paused for a moment in thought.

"The Tsaritsa and I... We came up with a deal, if you will, not too long ago."
