Demi's pov
Elara's words had sparked a flicker of hope in my mind and I found myself grabbing the bag and heading out to find the bathroom with the prepared bath.
I entered one of the rooms and my nostrils picked up the scents of lavenders leading me to the bathroom and when I opened it I saw the most luxurious bath I had ever had the opportunity to lay eyes upon.
I hurriedly stripped out of my patient clothes.
I wore the cover she had talked about over my arm wincing at the dull ache before sliding into the bathtub, a contended smile came across my lips and I sighed as soon as the warmth of the water grazed my skin and the scent of lavender drowned my nostrils.
"This is divine," I muttered using my fingers to play with the bubbles that formed on the water then I reached out to the washcloth so I could clean myself.
I had difficulty wiping myself because of my arm but I still managed to do it.
I scrubbed my hair, and my face, and dragged the clothes across my armpits and between my legs before scrubbing over the other parts of my body gently due to the wounds.
I scrubbed till my hand ached but not most of the dirt came off I looked better than before and I knew after a few more baths if I am
Privileged enough, I will get cleaner than I am now.I saved some soap so I'd use it for Haris later.
I got out of the bath and cleaned myself up with the fluffy towel that I found, it felt so soft against my skin and soothing to feel and after I was done, I pulled on the dress, ignoring the throbbing ache as I tried to put my arm through the straps. I brushed my fingers through my wet air and carefully put on my arm sling before going forward to look in the bathroom mirror.
I was shocked when I looked at it.
I couldn't remember the last time I saw my reflection apart from the pails of water and I had almost forgotten what I looked like.
I had long brown hair that fell to my back, my temples were slightly creased and the skin on my face was dehydrated and scarred pairing with my brown eyes that were sunken in.
My nose was long and I didn't quite find it beautiful and my lips were a bit full and chapped.
I could see the leanness of my neck, my collarbone sticking out and the dress didn't cover how malnourished I looked. I remembered the taunting names I was called in the former pack.
All bones, twigs, scrawny, rawboned
And then me being an amputee topped it all.
I couldn't compare to the other she-wolf neither could I compare to any other girl around here.
She was right. I don't belong here.
I should run along and find somewhere else.
I looked like this, couldn't defend myself, and didn't even have a wolf some had said that she was imaginary and I was crazy saying I felt my wolf in me.
No don't sit back, Harlyn protested when I moved to take off the dress, let's go and even if we do not see him, you can take a walk and feel better.
What if someone sees me? I was worried about that as well.
No one will, come on Demi, She urged me, let's go...
I listened to her words and found myself going back to the room to check on Haris before going out the front door and onto the land.
The moment my bare foot touched the grass, I felt like running. I could feel the cool night breeze against my skin and when I looked up to the sky, the moon shone in full glory, casting its rays across the earth.Go on, Harlyn urged.
I began to walk, barefooted against the ground and I walked in the direction away from the castle even if I was tempted to go there but I couldn't risk being seen and I knew that my mate may or may not be in that direction.
My insides turned at the thought of seeing him again and this time it could be him in human form, I couldn't stomach the rejection that would come, the disdain in his eyes when he would look at me and the desperation in me would disgust him.
I ventured deeper into the wounds, the moon cast an ethereal glow across the grounds and the smell of fresh grass teased me.
As I walked I could hear soft growls and grunts, I followed the sound moving closer, a scent teasing me sweeping me off my feet.
It was him and against my wish, my pace quickened.
Mate! Harlyn whispered when I heard a rustle in the bushes and I quickly hid behind one, crouching behind the grass with my gaze traveling towards the clearing slightly covered with trees directed at where the scent came from.
My mouth fell open, wide agape at the sight that greeted my eyes pulling me into a whirlwind of attraction and desire.
Bathed in the glory of the moonlight moving with a primal yet elegant grace was my mate with his back turned to me.
A mane of dark touseled hair coated his head shining with sweat causing the strands to glint in the moonlight.
His back was bare, rippling with lean muscles that were coated with sweat, his tan skin gleaming, the muscles flexing as he moved sending a warmth blooming in my chest that I had never experienced.
And I thought that was all till he turned.
I had my breath stolen and my bent knees fell to the earth as I caught sight of the most handsome face I had ever seen. I wanted to pull my hair for thinking that Logan was ever handsome.
My gaze lingered on him, his forehead beaded with sweat, arched eyebrows, and a very masculine jawline that I ached to trace with my fingers, his mouth was slightly open as he took in deep breaths messing with my thoughts and the show stopper was his eyes.
Oh, his eyes.
God bless his parents.
His eyes were green, the deepest and most enigmatic shade of green that I had ever seen and they were framed with long dark lashes. They pulled me into a trance sparking a heat of desire within me and I quickly pulled my face down so as to push back my thoughts but they only grew wilder when I set eyes on his torso.
It was lean, revealing his sheer power and controlled elegance built with the right amount of muscle that moved with each kick and punch as he trained against an imaginary opponent.
Shame coated my reddened cheeks as I watched him, desire and need flowed through my nerves, and the urge to run to him grew but I knew I was better off where I was watching from afar as it was where I belonged and the smile on my face fell when from the other end of the bushes, the she-wolf that was my latest nightmare emerged with a smile on her face and the moment she did, he stopped his training and turned to her.
There was a smile on his face when he did, gone was the furious and ferocious man I had met nights ago and when I watched him just now.
His smile revealed a softer side to him and he called her name, "Anya."
That was her name, beautiful just like her, and she got my mate to smile while I hid in the bushes with pain gnawing at my heart at the scene before me.
