Demi's pov

I angled myself deeper into the shrubs, my eyes trained on them with my heart drumming against its encase causing a frantic rhythm.

Eros and Anya began to speak, I could notice a considerable distance between them as they stood with their backs against me, their conversation flowed around pack duties, and their body language was casual stating a relationship of duties and friendship but not desire.

How sure can you be?

I continued to watch them intently, listening attentively to what they were discussing so I could find out more about their relationship.

"Have you decided on what color of suit you should wear to the party?" I heard Anya say as she moved closer to him but Eros didn't flinch, he maintained his stiff composure, "I was thinking we should match."

There was a pause and he said nothing for a moment.

"That isn't a bad idea." He stated in a gruff yet polite tone, "But why are we matching?"

"You are taking me as your date silly." She laughed and her head fell to the side touching his shoulder, "As it always is, hmm?"

"Of course." He replied bringing his hand up to move her head from him and I had mixed feelings about the Situation.

At first, I felt glee knowing he moved her from him and then it followed with sheer disdain at the fact that he was taking her as a date to a party they were holding and not me.

I wanted to move, to walk away but he cleared his throat making me stop to hear what he had to say.

"Is she awake?" His voice was low with a hint of something that I couldn't decipher, "Elara refused to give me feedback, she urges me to go see for myself."

I knew he was talking about me and I listened attentively while Harlyn expressed hope that he must care since he asked after us.

"No, she isn't." Anya gave a harsh reply, "And you know you can't go there."

"I can't." He agreed.

"Look," she turned to face him and she did the same putting her hands on his shoulders, "You have a lot to worry about, a kingdom to rule, and a girl who you know nothing about shouldn't be your priority."

"Anya."

"You know what has happened since she came."

What happened since I came?! I wanted to know more and I hoped that she would invest more in the conversation.

"You should focus on your kingdom and live up to expectations-"

"You are right." He agreed with a nod, "She's just a mere distraction."

I didn't wait to hear more, I got up and took off immediately with my eyes clouded with tears running away from the scene and I didn't get far before I bumped into someone.

I could feel male hands hold me and steady me while I tried to move, "You should be careful-it's you!" I looked up at the person speaking to me, his dark eyes looked very familiar and I could guess that it was the wolf that had tackled me when I first came into this territory.

I cowered away immediately taking steps back even if I could see the softness in his eyes. He could strike me if he wanted to and I wasn't ready to go through that again.

"I am sorry." I bowed hurriedly and took off running away from him and from my mate with the woman he seemed to hold dearly.

I didn't stop running till I got to the place where we resided, I opened the door, got in, and ran into the bathroom immediately. I walked to the mirror and took a good look at myself.
