28 YEARS LATER
"'We are all tied to our fates and none of us can undo that knot'" Vrushali read the lines out from the book she was reading."Just like yours is tied with mine" She narrowed her eyes and raised her gaze in the direction of the voice from the book to see her bestfriend Arjun walking towards her grinning.
"I thought you were going to Mahasabha(the great gathering)" Vrushali closed the book and placed it on the tea table before her standing up.
It was her habit to read in the free time she gets in her day. It wasn't just for knowledge but she loved books just like her mother because she was the one who made her a book lover. Arjun walked to her and forwarded his fists between them making her sigh and looked between two fists before choosing one.
He turned his fists and opened the one she chose which was empty making him grin and open other wrist to see the chocolate "You can never win this game Vrushali".
Vrushali rolled her eyes taking the chocolate from him "One day I'll win and that day you cannot do anything".
"Let's see! But first you've to come with me" Arjun rounded his arm around her shoulder.
"Go where?" Vrushali asked.
"To Mahasabha" Arjun replied both of them walking towards the library doors in the palace.
Vrushali stopped "But I can't come there".
Arjun sighed "From now on you are going to because there is something waiting for you. Your life is going to change love".
Vrushali took a step back "That's never going to happen! You know I do not have a life written after I reach 23 which is going to be the day after tomorrow".
Arjun turned serious "No! Nothing is going to happen to you. I'll fight with fate and the creator Brahma too for you".
Vrushali smiled gently "Even if you want to fight I won't let you because this is my life and only I get to decide what I have to do with it".
Arjun hugged her "Fine! But for now come with me to Mahasabha".
Vrushali pulled back "Why?"
"You'll know soon! Let's go" Arjun dragged her towards her room where she packed her luggage for two days and then handed it to the workers in the palace before the duo walked out towards the chopper where her luggage was loaded as they got seated with the doors closing behind them.
PAALI
This is the second time Vrushali was coming here to Paali. The last time she was here she was accused of many things the murderer, bad omen and mostly a relative of death because wherever she goes death follows.
Once the chopper landed the security rushed to them opening the doors making Arjun get down which made everyone proudly grin at him. Arjun didn't return their smile because he knew their happy faces are going to change soon. He turned around extending his hand making Vrushali place her hand in his and get down.
As expected everyone's expressions changed as they walked towards the other family members. One of the cousins walked to them with aarati plate. As she was doing rounds as per tradition the fire on the camphor went out making everyone widen their eyes.
"Apasakunam(Bad omen)" Few of them mumbled looking at Vrushali.
"It's the breeze" saying Arjun dragged Vrushali towards the front doors. And then went in towards the living room where everyone stopped talking looking at them.
"Everybody look who's here" Arjun smiled at the rest of the family friends.
Everyone just stared at her like she was not invited but Arjun's father, Pandu spoke up "Show her to the Rudramaneni's wing" making Arjun nod and held her hand walking towards the elevator.
"What is she doing here?" One of the elders asked once the duo was out of sight.
"I told him to bring her" Pandu replied.
"Are you out of your mind? Why would you do that? You know what happened with her mother and father and you know what happened to people she has been in contact with. She is born to die and kill others around her" Ashok who is Pandu's friend and the other family which attends Mahasabha spoke up.
"I want to prove that she is no such person. I'm going to make her my daughter in law" Pandu stated making everyone widen their eyes.
"You want to kill your own son?" PR spoke up.
"No such thing will happen dad" Pandu tried convincing his father.
"Even if it doesn't happen, what about her horoscope? Raja guru himself told us that she is not going to live past 23 which is the day after tomorrow" Ramanathan reminded everyone.
Pandu corrected "What Raja guru said is that there is no future for her after 23 not that she will die. So let's hope for the best" and walk away leaving everyone confused and worried.
