If you listen closely, you'll hear something:
People talking, no, police talking.
Police typing loudly.
Police hitting each other's backs.
And way more male voices than female voices.
Its the police headquarters. It was busier a few weeks ago when the big incident happened. Parents were flooding in and out of the station, checking in on their children and asking all the questions in the world.
Is my kid ok?
Do you really think my child did that?
How long will you keep them?
And the list goes on. But there was one kid, a pretty popular one in the custody of the police. His parents hadn't seen him and don't plan to. His uncle visits him from time to time, but somehow never brings up the incident. Right now this kid was in a visiting room. He was quite bored, tapping the floor endlessly and looking around the small room.
CREAK
The door slowly opened to reveal Chief Bana. He took one look at the boy before taking a seat opposite him. He sighed deeply.
"How are you doing?" Chief asked him, adjusting the new cast on his right arm.
No answer.
"They must be feeding you well! Food? Water?"
No response, not even eye contact.
"You know why I'm here Kweku."
No response.
"Any information for me today?"
No response.
"The more you tell me, the better."
No response.
"(Sigh) Kweku?"
No response.
"Will you even look at me?"
Kweku gave him one quick glare.
Chief Bana resorted to look down as well, knowing he's not going to get anything. He then took one good look at Kweku.
"I'm not going to force the truth out of you, but the other police officers will. You put thousands of students in danger, all I want to know..........is why."
Still; no response.
NEXT MORNING
The police woman at the reception just loved her job. Attending to people at the reception (in her language, watch TikTok all day), who wouldn't love it? That's why she was so excited when Chief Bana came rushing to her office desk (I'll leave you to translate this one).
"Good morning Officer," Chief panted.
"What can I do for you today?" She sighed.
"I'm here to meet the Richmond high students?"
She then slowly looked right into his eyes.
"DG (Director General) gave me clearance, I was actually.."
"You know they won't talk, right?"
Chief just gave her his optimistic smile; he wasn't going to give up any time soon.
