Sam led her back to the dock, where they sat together, their legs dangling over the edge as they watched the sun dip below the horizon. The sky was a riot of colors—deep oranges and purples blending into the darkening blue of night—and Olivia felt a sense of contentment settle over her, a feeling of rightness that she hadn't experienced in a long time.

As the last rays of sunlight dipped below the horizon, casting a deep blue glow over the lake, Olivia leaned her head on Sam's shoulder. The warmth of his body, the steady rhythm of his breathing, and the tranquility of the scene around them made her feel more at peace than she had in years.

For a long time, they simply sat there, wrapped in the comfortable silence that had settled between them. The world seemed to have narrowed to just the two of them, the worries and fears that had plagued her earlier in the day fading into the background. Here, in this quiet place, she felt safe—safe from her past, safe from the uncertainties of the future.

Eventually, Sam broke the silence, his voice low and calm. "What are you thinking about?"

Olivia smiled softly, lifting her head to look at him. "I'm thinking about how lucky I am. I'm thinking about how grateful I am that you brought me here, that you're here with me."

Sam's eyes softened, and he reached up to brush a stray lock of hair behind her ear. "I'm grateful too, Olivia. You don't have to go through any of this alone anymore."

She reached up to take his hand, squeezing it gently. "I know. And I'm finally starting to believe that."

They stayed on the dock until the last light of day had completely faded, leaving them in the soft glow of twilight. The stars began to peek out, one by one, dotting the sky above them with pinpricks of light. The lake, now dark and still, reflected the night sky like a mirror, creating an almost surreal, otherworldly atmosphere.

Sam shifted slightly, drawing her closer to him as the cool night air settled in. "We should probably head inside. It's getting chilly."

Olivia nodded, but she made no move to stand. Instead, she let out a contented sigh, snuggling closer to him. "Just a few more minutes. I want to remember this."

Sam chuckled softly, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "Alright. A few more minutes."

They sat together, watching as the stars continued to fill the sky, until the cold finally drove them back to the warmth of the cabin. Inside, Sam lit a fire in the small stone fireplace, the crackling flames casting a warm, golden glow over the cozy space. The cabin was simple, rustic, with wooden beams and comfortable furniture that gave it a homey, welcoming feel.

Olivia sat on the couch, pulling a soft blanket around her shoulders as she watched Sam tend to the fire. The sight of him, so at ease in this place, made her heart swell with affection. She was struck by how different her life had become in such a short time, how this man—who had once been a stranger—had become such an important part of her world.

When the fire was blazing warmly, Sam joined her on the couch, pulling her into his arms as they settled into the comfort of the evening. They talked quietly, sharing stories, dreams, and thoughts about the future. It was the kind of easy, intimate conversation that made Olivia feel even more connected to him, more certain that she was on the right path.

As the night wore on and the fire burned low, Olivia found herself drifting off, lulled to sleep by the warmth of the fire and the steady beat of Sam's heart beneath her ear. She didn't remember falling asleep, but she knew that for the first time in a long time, she felt truly content, truly at peace.

When she woke the next morning, the sun was just beginning to rise, casting a soft light over the room. Sam was still asleep beside her, his arm draped protectively around her waist. For a moment, she simply lay there, savoring the feeling of being wrapped in his embrace, of waking up beside him in this quiet, beautiful place.

Eventually, she carefully slipped out of bed, not wanting to wake him. She padded to the window, pulling back the curtains to reveal the lake, now bathed in the golden light of dawn. The sight took her breath away, and she felt a surge of gratitude for this place, for this moment, for Sam.

As she stood there, watching the sun rise over the water, Olivia realized that she was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. She didn't know what the future held, but she knew that with Sam by her side, she could handle it. Together, they could face anything.

With that thought, she turned back to the bed, where Sam was beginning to stir. A soft smile played on her lips as she watched him wake, his eyes blinking sleepily as they adjusted to the light.

"Good morning," she said softly, walking over to sit beside him on the bed.

Sam smiled up at her, his hand reaching out to pull her back into his arms. "Good morning," he murmured, his voice still rough with sleep. "How long have you been up?"

"Not long," she replied, resting her head on his chest. "I was just watching the sunrise."

He pressed a kiss to her forehead, his arms tightening around her. "It sounds like the perfect way to start the day."

They lay there for a while, enjoying the quiet of the morning, neither of them in any hurry to leave the comfort of the bed. But eventually, the demands of the day began to call to them, and they reluctantly got up to start the morning.

As they made breakfast together, moving easily around the small kitchen, Olivia felt a deep sense of contentment settle over her. This place, this time with Sam—it was exactly what she had needed to heal, to find her strength again.

After they ate, they packed up their things and got ready to head back to the city. Olivia felt a pang of sadness at the thought of leaving, but she knew that they couldn't stay here forever. The real world was waiting for them, with all its challenges and uncertainties. But she was no longer afraid.

As they drove away from the cabin, Olivia looked back one last time, a soft smile on her lips. She knew that they would return to this place, that it would always be a sanctuary for them, a place where they could escape and find peace.

But for now, she was ready to face whatever came next, knowing that she wasn't alone. She had Sam, and together, they could handle anything.
