bonus chapter: sick

lately life has been so good. jack and delilah recently moved into jacks new jersey apartment for hockey season, even though delilah adamantly told him she would be fine at his parents house alone. of course he said no, that he knew she would be fine but he didn't want to be so far from her for so long. so she agreed and the next week the two were settled in an apartment together.

it's been three months now and the weather has gotten cold and jacks hockey season has started.

the couple were laying together in their bed sleeping peacefully wrapped in each others arms.

delilah started to slowly wake up, squinting her eyes from the light coming from the windows where they forgot to close the curtains.

all of a sudden she felt her head start pounding and she had an overwhelming sense of dryness and irritation in her throat. she sat up in bed and rubbed her eyes, trying to rid of the tiredness.

ignoring the aches in her body, she got up and walked over to their kitchen, grabbing a glass and quickly drinking water, trying to lose the feeling of dryness in her throat.

her body aches grew more intense and so did her headache, causing her to feel nauseous. she sat down her glass and pressed her hands against the counter, leaning into them and closing her eyes.

a minute later she felt two arms wrapping around her waste and a head being rested on hers. she sighed and lightly laughed, as jack started placing nippy kisses against her neck.

"why are you out of bed?" he mumbled against her neck.

"i think im getting a cold." she sniffled leaning into his touch.

"wait what, are you ok?" she turned her around placing his hands against her face.

"yeah i just don't feel good." she mumbled holding his hands over her cheeks, trying to savor his warmth from her chilled body.

"you feel warm too. go lay back down, baby, i'll bring you some water and medicine and something to eat ok?"
"okay."

she reluctantly let go of jack and walked back over to their room, laying down and pulling the covers over her body. she laid on her side and turned on her laptop, finding a movie to watch and watching it until jack walked back in the room with a tray of water, advil and some cut up fruit.

she sat up in the bed while jack set her stuff on the nightstand and sat down next to her on the bed. she laid her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes in contempt as he held her close.

"i have to go to practice, babe." delilah groaned and shook her head, adjusting her position so she was straddling his lap, her head resting in the crook of his neck.

he lightly chuckled and rubbed her back in soothing circles, knowing she would have a hard time letting him go.

"i know. i promise i'll be back in a couple hours though and we can cuddle for the rest of the day, ok?"
"promise?" she lifted her head to look him in the eyes.

"i promise." he said giving her a light kiss on her forehead.

a few minutes later delilah was at their apartment door, wishing jack a good practice and closing the door behind him. she sighed and walked back to their bedroom, laying down and closing her eyes.

for the next few hours delilah was in and out of sleep, waking up with nausea and cold sweats.

eventually she fell into sleep once again, when jack came back home and walked into the room. he saw delilah sleeping under the covers with one leg sticking out, and chuckled at her slightly scrunched up nose and flushed cheeks.

he sat down next to her on the bed and pushed her hair out of her face, gently rubbing her forehead with his thumb, feeling her slightly warm temperature.

delilah fluttered her eyes open to see jack sitting next to her.

"hi my love. how are you feeling?"
"not good."
"i have to shower, and i think if you took a bath you'd feel better, so how about i quickly rinse off and then i make you a nice bubble bath ok?"
"ok."

as soon as jack was done with his shower he ran the hot water in the bathtub, adding her bath salts and lighting a soothing lavender candle on the counter. he dimmed the bathroom lights to not give his girlfriend a headache.

he walked back into the bedroom to see her hugging the stuffed bunny he gifted her for the one month anniversary. he softly smiled at her and walked up to the bed.

"you ready?"

she nodded her head and he helped her up, walking her over to the bathroom. he helped her undress and step into the bath, sitting her down where she could lean against the back of the tub.

"good?"
"mhm."

he softly pushed a strand of her hair behind her ear, as she sighed and gently smiled at her boyfriend.

"let me wash your hair ok? just lean your head back."

he grabbed a plastic cup and filled it with the running water from the bathtub faucet, pouring jt over her hair to get it wet enough to rub some shampoo in it. he massaged her scalp softly with his hands as she washed her body and relaxed in the warm water.

jack rinsed her hair out and combed some conditioner through the bottom of her hair, letting it sit for a couple minutes before washing it out.

once he was done he sat by the tub with delilah, letting her rest for a bit before he had to get her out.

delilah opened her eyes and smiled at jack as he held her hand and rubbed soothing circles with his thumb.

"what?" he asked smiling back at her.

"i love you." she whispered.

"i love you too." he laughed and leaned forward,
giving her a sweet kiss.

a few minutes later he helped her out of the bathtub and dried her off, helping her step into her clothes, and pulling one of his hoodies over her head. he sprayed some of her leave in conditioner into her hair and softly brushed it to get all of the tangles out. he braided it down her back and once he was done, he leaned over and kissed her cheek, pulling her up from her vanity chair and walking her back over to the bed.

they spent the rest of the day cuddling bed, as jack promised, and watching delilah's favorite movies.

a few days later delilah was back to normal but then one day jack woke up, and now he was sick too.
