A Long Time Since Passed

"You are the best wizard from your time," Delphini whispered in his ear as they stand amidst a battlefield of dead Aurors and ministry officials. Even the trainees were dead and gone. "Or perhaps throughout time." Delphini kicked the head of a man that had been decapitated like a football and it rolled towards a growing puddle of blood.

Hadrian slowly looked around, observing the bodies and skeletons, the scorch marks and the fog that had settled from the rapid use of temperature changing spells.

He licked his teeth to clean them of blood that was leaking from his nose and Delphini glanced back at him.

"Undefeatable in battle," she murmurs, her poisonous gaze travelling over him like a lover touch, a finger travelling along his jaw. "And yet you fell so easily little dragon."

She laughed and walked past him and his body began moving, following her and the figures that were wildly trying to outrun the ever expanding anti-apparition wards, were cut down with just a lift of his wand.

Some of the best duellers the century had seen had fallen beneath his hand and that was all there was.

Hadrian stood opposite Dakarai as people crowded and watched from outside the barrier that wasn't entirely big enough in his opinion but it didn't matter too much. Dakarai was clearly under the belief he'd win- Hadrian was going to fight to kill him but would still agree to the duelling conditions for the dishonour he'd given all the fallen duellers underneath his hand.

He would fight to kill- but he'd fight honourably.

He wouldn't use the Elder Wand, he'd use just what he had and it would have to be enough.

He got put a fut forward and a foot behind him, waiting for Dakarai to move. He didn't hesitate.

Lightening came arcing towards him like a bullet and he flung up a magic dissipating field- and the lightening was swallowed swiftly, seemingly disappearing in front of everyone eyes.

Hadrian holds his ground as Dakarai begins moving forward, yellow magic splitting the ground in an attempt to bury him alive and Hadrian spoke,

"Wingardium Leviosa."

The ground rose and the spell ended as it split the risen pillar and it crumbled and Hadrian attacked. Two bombarda maxima's destroyed the territory between them but the shield Dakarai threw up could put even Dumbledore's shields to shame.

Hadrian still did the favour of shattering it and overwhelming it with a powerful diffindo and a quick succession of three spell flew at him to make sure he couldn't gain the upper hand and the length of recovery time for the draw back was... surprising.

But Hadrian was, if nothing, prepared for this.

Dakarai hadn't needed recovery time in the future and had fought until his own magic did more harm than good, slowly destroying himself as he sought to kill Hadrian.

Dakarai began running across the ruined ground and soon they'd get into close duels but Hadrian apparated to where Dakarai had just been and the man began doing the same and spells were flying in-between apparating and things were getting dangerous. Getting caught with a spell while apparating would end in what had happened to Ron.

He skidded on the ground as he landed, the sword heavy on his back but he'd only use it in later duels or if he had underestimated his opponent vastly and was put in a tight corner.

The moment Dakarai apparated within a league of him, Hadrian threw up protego diabolica.

Green flames roiled and Dakarai paused at the unfamiliar magic. Or perhaps it was familiar but he slowly turned and looked directly at Dumbledore who paled as he recognised the spell.
