What appeared before her had simply defied logic!

The moment Lena's blood touched the ancient stone, her fate had been sealed.

The jagged ancient stone which had cut and absorbed her blood, immediately flared to life. It erupted with a blinding light that cut through the dark water purifying the water around it. The murky river became clear in an instant. The dirt settled and though it was still in the dark of the night, Lena could see what lay in front of her in an instant.

Before her very eyes, a portal materialized, its golden circular rim glowing with a foreboding light, the edges crackling with raw, residual power. The air around it hummed with energy as ancient runes spiraled counterclockwise along the rim, their patterns pulsing with a faint, eerie glow. The strange runes, were indecipherable by any known human language—remnants of a time long forgotten, buried deep in the past; and at the very center of the portal, a swirling vortex of pure darkness pulsated with distorted energy.

The once-silent river suddenly roared with energy and the ancient portal, dormant for over a thousand years, sprang to life and pulled Lena like a ragdoll toward it with terrifying force.

Lena's body trembled. She could no longer hold her breath much longer and her vision began to fade.

In the blink of an eye, she was thrust into the ancient gateway and after a few seconds passed,  her body became suspended in a dark, boundless void. The journey became a disorienting blur, twisting and warping the very fabric of time and space. Had she been fully aware, Lena would have been awestruck by the sensation of hurtling through the darkness, completely oblivious to how far she was leaving her old world behind.

The water around the portal seemed to warp and twist, distorting reality itself. Then, in a cataclysmic burst, the portal collapsed in on itself with the force of a dying star, imploding into a single point of pure darkness.

In an instant, the portal disappeared into the murky river, its energy fading away and leaving only ripples behind. The river, briefly lit by the portal's strange glow and the now-hidden full moon, returned to its usual dark state, as if nothing had happened.

What Lena did not know was that this was no ordinary gateway but a relic buried beneath the river's murky depths for over a millennium. Its existence had been erased from memory. For centuries, the portal lay dormant, its power sealed away, waiting for the precise conditions to be met. Lena, unaware of the forces at play, had unknowingly fulfilled those conditions. The first was the light of the full moon. On this rare night, the full moon's silver beams of light managed to slice through the river's dense waters and fed the portal's energy source. But it wasn't enough. The portal demanded more—a sacrifice, a touch of life to bridge the worlds and unlock the runes. It required a living essence, her blood.

........................

A  distant, radiant light began to swell before her, growing larger and brighter with each passing moment. This light was mesmerizing, a beacon of unimaginable intensity that cut through the void, beckoning her unconscious body forward.

WHOOSH...

'...'

Lena's body passed through the exit of the portal, crossing the threshold into a new world.

In that instant, Lena's unconscious body emerged from the portal, and a singular beam of light shot into the sky-- cutting through the darkness like a sword. The intensity of the light was staggering, drawing immediate attention from anyone who was in the vicinity. The very air seemed to vibrate with its presence, as if the world itself acknowledged the arrival of this new being.

If Lena had been conscious, she would have been awestruck by the sheer magnitude of what had just occurred. But for now, she remained unaware, her fate tied to the supernatural forces that had brought her here, to this strange and mysterious land.
