Solution P.O.V
Night had fallen over E-Rantel. The cold dark of night never entered E-Rantel though, always around it. These humans had constructed
I had spent the whole day thinking of means to apologize to Y/N for instigating our ugly spat the other night. I still had yet to confront him, though it wasn't from a lack of trying.
If my relationship with Y/N was to continue, it could only do so as long I completed my assignments and with above average performance. I had to work all day, chatting away with the snobs of human nobility in order to establish connections between Nazarick and those connected to resources and priveleges that Lord Ainz lacked. Although, he could've taken such things by force but he deemed brutality wasteful and it was best to avoid it when possible.
Who was I to question the Supreme One of Nazarick?
"Y/N? Is that you?"
I was pulled from my thoughts as a soft voice called out. The door slid further open, allowing the light on the other side to seep in and expose the face of my visitor.
"Oh! Pa-pardon me, my lady," cried a timid human girl. "I wasn't trying to disturb you. I heard noises coming from the kitchen and assumed it was Mister Y/N having a snack."
"It's fine," I grumbled. "Wait. Pardon me, but if I heard you correctly you said you only came here because you thought Y/N was here, hm? Was there something you needed from him? Or were you just that eager to see him?"
The human girl's pale face erupted with bright colors upon being interrogated. At least, that's how she felt. I had only asked the question as a form of wicked teasing as I feeling rather confident she possessed romantic feelings for Y/N.
How couldn't she? Unless she was blind or numb, there was no way she couldn't love all that fluff.
And considering her childish demeanor; she certainly seemed like the type to fall for a man who was the practical equivalent of a living stuffed animal.
"I-I was just a bit hungry myself," the girl stammered, waving her hands in front of her tomato red face. "I was going to ignore it and just head to bed but when I overheard the commotion, I just thought it would be nice to eat with someone rather than alone in the dark."
"Well unfortunately he's already gone to bed," I scoffed.
My frustration was aimed solely at myself but it unintentionally struck the human girl, causing her to shudder where she stood.
There was an awkward silence between us. Well, for me it was awkward. From the look of it: the silence was more agonizing and tormenting for her.
"I'm sorry for disturbing you, my lady," the human said, bowing her body to a point where I'm sure she hurt. "I'll leave you be. Enjoy—"
"What do you mean? You said you wanted to eat with someone," I cut in, pushing the plate of oatmeal cookies toward an empty seat at the table. "'I apologize. It seems I'm the only company you have. I hope my presence doesn't spoil your appetite."
"Of course not, my lady," the girl shrieked, shaking her head desperately. "I would be honored to dine with you. But are you sure you want me at your—"
"Just sit down," I hissed, snapping my fingers before pointing at the seat adjacent to me. "It's the least you can do considering I am sheltering and providing for you."
My threat hit its mark and Tuare hastily plummeted down toward the seat I had gestured to, fear stricken across her rodent-like face.
The human girl reached for a cookie, but stress rattled her nerves and she accidentally applied to much force crushed it in her hand. She let out a shriek as the cookie crumbs and dust fell from her shaky palms.
