Happy Halloween! I know I'm late, I apologize! I was quite busy the last 2 weeks and had little time to polish the chapter! Hope you all enjoy!
Y/N P.O.V
I emerged from my bedroom and immediately noticed an abundance of abnormality. Of course, how normal could things be in a tomb of monsters, right? Well, I had enough experience to know that cobwebs and cutouts of pumpkin faces decorating the walls and ceiling were not a normal occurrence.
The maids would never permit such uncleanliness.
In fact, my feet were submerged in a stream of smoke emanating from somewhere unknown. I could feel a chill graze the nape of my neck every now and then as well. It felt like the breathing of a man long dead and gone on my shoulder but every-time I turned I was met with an empty hallway.
"Hello...? Yuri...? Solution...?" I called out. "Anybody?"
The only response given was the howl of the wind as it traversed the empty halls. The situation became even more eerie as it should've been impossible for there to be a gust of wind this far down into the Great Tomb of Nazarick.
I had awoken not long ago, surprisingly alone. While Yuri and Solution both had their duties to attend to, they usually were able to work-out a schedule/system so that I always woke up with one of them by my side.
Such a thing wasn't my idea though I gave no complaints upon learning about it.
I wandered the halls of Nazarick, instinctively wrapping my tail around my torso as a means of defence. The paintings of Supreme Beings and other characters of Nazarick folklore seemed to follow me with their beady, bloodthirsty eyes. I
Not once did I feel their hateful gaze leave my body. It was as if they were envious of my soul and its living body, capable of movement and all sorts of wonders. My ears perked up as the sound of music could be heard coming from further down the hallway. And just as I feared: the spooky music was coming from inside the Pleiades quarters.
I shifted my eyes around, searching for signs of anyone as while the 9th Floor was indeed huge, I should've at least seen a maid or two by now. Had they been the ones to put up all this creepy stuff? And if so, was the sole purpose just to... fuck with my head?
"It's everyday in this goddamn tomb," I snarled. "Everyday something batshit crazy has to happen. Well... this is the lifestyle I'm gonna marry into. Might as well smile and try to enjoy the ride as best I can."
I took a single step toward the door when it seung open! The muffled music playing within now much more coherent and eerie as now I could understand the lyrics.
"I was working in the lab late one night~! When my eyes beheld an eerie sight~! From my monster, from his slab, began to rise~!" The song continued to build, approaching the chorus as I shuffled toward the doorway with reluctance. "And suddenly, to my surprise~! He did the—"
The song continued to play on as I entered the Pleiades corners, eyes beaming with hope to meet the loving gaze of either Solution or Yuri. I would even take the hateful glare of Lady Narberal, as long as somebody was there!
And, luckily, five out of the six Pleiades were in-fact present. Though, they were utterly shrouded in darkness. The room was lit dimly, the flames of the torches smaller than usual for some reason and thus their light could not pierce the darkness cast over the 5 maids. From their silhouettes, I could tell who was present and who was not. Only Yuri remained absent. Though, considering the other 5 were here, I didn't fret as I assumed they would know where she was.
