I awake in the morning and get dressed into normal clothes. I do all of my hygiene essentials and head downstairs. I meet up with Sirius and Regulus at the main area. We await the doors opening and once they do we see our father.
"Children" father states
We all nod our head in unison.
"Well then, Athena your brothers are allowed to accompany us today. But they will not interfere with the plans." He says sternly
We follow without saying anything. Soon we arrive at this dark abandoned looking house.
"Boys you shall stay here. Athena will come with me alone."he says grabbing my arm and dragging me into the house.
I look behind me and see my brothers look at each other with knowing eyes. Then back at me with sorrow.
I follow my father into a room where a man is standing there. A young man. He turns around and it's. Matteo Riddle.
"Athena" he asks shocked
"Matteo" I reply just as shocked
"Glad you two have met, seeming as though Matteo will be your mentor" father starts
"Mentor?! For what" I ask growing worried
"Oh dear daughter. You have to complete your fate. I've given you time to live life as normal. But you are of age soon. You are almost 16, which means you are ready" he continues
"You called that living a normal life?! I was tortured everyday of my life in that house. And that was normal!" I yell at my father.
"Silence!" He yells
"You have no opinion in this. This decision is final. Matteo will be your mentor whether you like it or not" he continues to yell
I make eye contact with Matteo and the look in his eyes. It's almost a look of pity,but is masked just as quickly as it came.
"Well your first task is the crucio spell" father starts. I have been told Matteo has agreed to be the tester." Father speaks
"What?" Matteo asks shocked.
"Guess your father hasn't informed you. You will be helping Athena and also being her test subject." Father says
I give a sorry look to Matteo. He just nods his head.
"I would like you to leave the room." I speak looking at father.
"Funny. My daughter I will be watching making sure you do your job." He says with a straight face
"Go on." He states pointing to Matteo.
"No. I will not torture him." I say looking at Matteo
"Athena it's okay. Just do it" he says calmly dropping his wand
"I can't" I say shaking my head
"Do it to him. Or I will do it to you" my father states threateningly
"You must. Please Athena. Just do it. Please. I'm begging you" he says with a helpless look
I've never seen this side of Matteo. So vulnerable. He gets on his knees and closes his eyes.
"Crucio" I say looking away. He starts screaming in agonizing pain. He's begging me to stop. But I can't. Father has a smile on his face watching. Eventually the spell wears off and he's panting heavily on the ground.
"I'm sorry" I whisper to him
He doesn't reply and just breathes.
Father makes us do this for about 30 more minutes. Then speaks.
"Good. That's all for right now. I will leave you two to it." He finishes leaving the room.
I run to Matteo and help him up.
"I'm so sorry. I didn't want to." I say helping him up to his butt to sit. He stays having his head on my shoulder.
"Don't be sorry. You had to. I should've known what I was getting into when my father asked me. I just didn't know it would be you" he says still in pain.
"It'll get better. It still hurts every time. But it gets better"I reply playing with his hair.
"I know." He says barely above a whisper.
We sit in silence. A comfortable silence. There is something between us that we both feel. A similarity almost. It's a comforting feeling that we understand eachother. A deep understanding that we've been through a lot.
All of a sudden I hear footsteps. It must be Sirius and Regulus.
"Athena!" Sirius yells.
"What happened. We heard screaming-" he cuts off at the sight of Matteo and I
"What happened?" Regulas asks
"I didn't want to. He made me" I reply backing away from Matteo.
"Who?" Sirius asks hugging me.
"Father. He made me use the crucio spell on Matteo" I reply hugging him back.
I hear Sirius huff but know won't say anything.
"Let's get you both home" Sirius says as he helps me and Regulus helps Matteo
We arrive at the castle and Sirius walks into the Slytherin common room. I didn't know he could do that. He sets me on the couch and stands in-front of me.
"I have to go Aja. I'll see you later. Come up to the astronomy tower after dinner" he starts calmly
"I want to spend time with you. Without everyone. Just us" he says rubbing my arm
"Yeah, alright" I reply nodding my head.
He leaves the room after giving me and kiss on the forehead. Matteo and Regulus are sitting on the opposite couch.
"I didn't want to do it Matteo" I say barely above a whisper.
"It's fine Athena. I told you too" he replies looking at the ground.
"I'm heading to my room. See you guys" he says giving me a kiss on my forehead aswell
"Your father do that often" I ask Matteo
"What do you mean" he asks finally looking me in the eyes
"Like. Mentor people" I ask
"No. You're the first." He says shaking his head
"What kind of mentor are you?" I ask him once more
"I'm helping you become darker essentially. Our fathers have destined for us to rule the death eaters." He starts
"Why." I ask him
"We're different. Your the Slytherin princes. One of the most valuable wizards. Your blood is the purest. And I'm my father's son. That pretty much speaks for itself" he says
"That's why you were in my kitchen before I left for here" I reply
He nods in assurance.
"I knew you existed. Just not what you looked like. You're much different than others describe. Much prettier too" he says looking at me
We sit in silence for a while.
"Look, Athena. Don't tell anyone what happened today or what is going to be happening from now on. No one can know about this" he says seriously
"I won't. You have my word" I reply
"We should probably get to your room and rest ." He says
"Wait. Matteo" I say getting his attention
"What's gonna happened with us?" I ask him
"I don't know Athena. I don't know" is all he says as he turns and walks away up the stairs to his room.
