Dear Diary

I'm sitting in my bedroom, sprawled across my bed and scribbling enthusiastically into my dairy. Today's shift at the grill wasn't as bad as I expected. I never thought I'd say this, but Jacob might actually be a nice guy. I feel itchy. I'm trying to let her out as little as possible. If I get cornered by Sam's pack, I'll have no choice other than to show them my human form. And that won't end well. My heart rate is increasing. I feel a prickly sensation down my spine. I really hope that Jacob isn't out there today. My large window is already open because this used to be Edward's room, and he didn't give me the key to close it. I jump easily out of the window and sprint as far away from the house as possible before shifting into my wolf form and jumping over to the pack's side of the river. I can't risk staying on the Cullens' side when Carlisle and Esme are hunting, otherwise they may believe that the wolves have broken the treaty and started a war. I run for a while, letting my legs stretch and my white hair flow in the wind until I spot a deer in the distance. I should probably hunt. I haven't drank blook since I arrived here three weeks ago.

I stalk closer to it before crouching down in a bush and preparing to pounce. That is until I spot auburn hair poking out of a bush that's a bit too close for my liking. Not again. I'm so hungry. I need this deer. But he's here, again. Why is he always here? I try to walk backwards but step on a twig, causing him to whip his head around curiously. Maybe he hasn't spotted me. He locks eyes with me. He's spotted me. He starts walking towards me. What do I do? Should I run? I hear a voice in my head. At first, it's barely a whisper, but as he gets closer, it becomes louder and understandable.
"Hello." I don't answer.
"My name is Jacob. Are you new to the area." I continue my silence.
"I just... wanted to know if, well, you'd be interested in joining my pack?" Terrible idea, Jacob, terrible.
"I prefer to be alone."
"You speak, that's good. What's your name?"
"Stranger danger."
"Oh, come on. Don't be like that. We should probably become more acquainted anyway."
"And why is that?"
"Well, because... I'm sorry, I thought it would've been reciprocated."
"What would be reciprocated?"
"I... I imprinted on you." Shit. I thought I was the only one who felt it. This can not be happening. He can't know.
"Sorry."
"Oh. Are you su-" but before he even gets the chance to finish his sentence, I'm running away. I can't be near him for another second. I thought I could pretend it never happened and things would go back to normal, but knowing that he feels what I feel is just too much to process. I... want him. I really want him. But I can't have him. He's a werewolf, and I'm supposed to be just another vampire in town. We were destined to hate each other. So why does it feel so right when he's close? This is all too much.

Once I'm finally out of Jacob's earshot, I shift back into my human form and make my way back to the area that I first spot the dear. Fortunately, it's still there. Unfortunately, so is Jacob. When he sees me approaching, he stands behind a tree and shifts into his human form, grabbing shorts from a bag hanging on the tree. Does he just hang clothes all throughout the forest for whenever he transforms?
"To what do I owe the pleasure of your company, cupcake?" I roll my eyes at the insistence of that nickname.
"Hunting. What are you doing here?"
"You know, cool wolf stuff. Did you happen to run across a white wolf on your way over." I gulp. I hope he doesn't notice.
"No. Why? Run away pup?"
"Not quite. Do you want me to help?"
"You? Help me hunt? Why would you do that?"
"You successfully hunting means that you don't drink a human instead. I'm all for the animal diet."
"Do you even know how to hunt?" He seems offended by my question, and I can't help but giggle at his facial expression.
"Do I know how to hunt? Of course I do! I'm going to pretend you didn't ask that. Now turn around and let me shift." I turn around quite reluctantly, as I'd just realised that Jacob is completely shirtless whilst talking to me (and I quite liked the view). I turn around once all the growling and whining stops, and he's in his wolf form. His auburn hair reminds me of my natural hair colour. It's so pretty and authentic compared to my dyed brown hair. I almost feel foolish covering it until I remember that Jacob isn't allowed to know that I'm the one he was chasing in the woods.
"Ready?" I receive a nod in response.
"Perfect."

And with that, we're running together in the forest, the deer just in the lead. Jacob is on its right whilst I'm on its left. I look over briefly at him, but almost fall over a tree stump. Jacob is looking at me now, and it seems as though he's laughing, not that it's easy to tell in his wolf form.
"That wasn't funny." I soar high in the sky when I jump over a large boulder that was blocking my path. We're almost at the cliff. Soon the deer will run out of places to go, and I'll finally have my meal. Jacob is speeding up. The cliff is getting closer. Jacob is still going at full speed. He won't be able to stop in time if he keeps this up. Doesn't he know that the cliff is there? We're so close now. If Jacob runs into that cliff, he'll die on impact. I really need to eat. Jacob will die. Fuck. I jump to my right and hug Jacob's middle, sending us rolling to the side. Once we slow down, he shifts into a human.
"We almost had it!"
"Yeah, and you almost died!"
"What?" He looks over to see the cliff that's mere centimetres away from us.
"You saved my life."
"Yeah, I suppose I did. And lost my meal in the process."
"I'm sorry."
"No, it's fine. I'm joking. I'd rather be hungry than let you die."
"You would?"
"I just did, didn't I?" He looks at me puzzled. Then his face changes into an expression that I haven't seen on him before. Gratitude.
"Thank you."
"It's no problem. I guess I'm the one who's protecting you, huh." He laughs sheepishly whilst scratching the back of his neck.
"Yeah, I guess so."
"By the way, Jacob, you're naked." He instantly looks down and desperately covers himself with his hands. I laugh carelessly as I walk back towards the Cullen residence.

After snagging a few squirrels, I'm satiated enough to return home. I jump back into my room through the window and plop down on my bed, continuing on my sentence in my dairy. Jacob really isn't that bad, not at all.
