Well, I'm done with the first story in the Shadow Saga Series, and the Sonic 3 trailer is out now. What better time to start the adaptation of Sonic Adventure 2? Which I haven't actually played. Yet.
Sonic belongs to SEGA, enjoy!Everything was dark.
Shadow didn't find it as unsettling at this point. After so long in cryostasis, he'd gotten used to the cold and the dark and the voices screaming in his head. Though his body was inactive, his mind was not. Thoughts of vengeance and death remained in his heart, even as in the outside world, his body remained silent and still in sleep.
For fifty long years.
Counting the seconds was not a very fun way to pass the time, but it at the very least gave him something to do that wouldn't make him slowly go insane. He was honestly surprised that his will was so strong, but really, he shouldn't have been.
After all, there was nothing the Ultimate Lifeform couldn't do. Or at least, shouldn't be able to do.
Ah, if he'd only had that resolve before...
Wait...
He heard something.
He heard something.
Something that wasn't only in his mind.
A strange noise, and then he felt—he felt—a sense of warmth beginning to fill his body, rejuvenating his entire being and reigniting his senses. His sense of touch, as the feeling of warmth spread through all of his muscles and nerves and gave them new life, new strength, new energy as the cold vanished. His sense of hearing, as the capsule containing him was opening, hissing as he felt the warm air rising off his body.
His sense of sight, as for the first time in fifty years, his once-closed eyes began to flutter open...
...and he woke up.
When Shadow came back from the void, he was in the room where he had been before he had fallen into the dark, but no soldiers were there to return him to his forced slumber. The room was warm, and he could feel the metal capsule that once held him, now open as steam rushed from it and filled the entire space. The hedgehog blinked, testing his ability to open and close his eyes, testing how his eyelids didn't take any effort to keep open like before. He wasn't being forcibly dragged down into the void anymore, his body could move freely without being inhibited by the paralysis they'd injected into him. His breathing was perfectly normal, controlled by him and only him, each inhale and exhale not pulling him further away from reality.
He could move. He could feel.
Somehow, someway, by some miracle... Shadow the Hedgehog had finally been released into the world again.
He heard a gasp.
Someone was there!
Shadow spun around to face the new person, and found himself standing before a human. One who looked very familiar to him. That mustache, those glasses, that build... no, it couldn't possibly be...
But the voice that spoke into the silence of the room was one that Shadow didn't recognize.
"Y-you're Sonic!" The man looked enraged, as he stared at Shadow with a kind of anger that he couldn't place. "How dare you deceive me?!" Then the man blinked a few times, the steam in the room clearing up, and his anger was replaced with confusion. "Wait a minute... you're not Sonic! You are... no... it can't be!"
Shadow looked at him for a brief moment longer, before then getting on one knee and bowing his head to the man. He could take a small hit to his pride, if it meant his creator's wish would be fulfilled. "My name is Shadow," he said in his best attempt to sound subordinate to the man who had freed him. "I have been in a deep sleep for fifty years—but now you have released me, for which I am very grateful. In return for waking me up, my master..." He looked up at the man, who merely stared back at him in what seemed to be astonishment. "...I will grant you your wish."
Before the man could answer, the alarms started blaring, and Shadow resisted the urge to cover his ears like the man was doing. A large robot burst into the room, which the man acknowledged with a profound annoyance. "What bad timing, as usual!" he complained.
What a grand opportunity, Shadow thought as he stepped forward. Turning to the man, he flashed a confident smirk and declared, "Behold, the true power I possess!"
And just like that, it was time for a stress reliever.
By blowing something up.
Shadow was laser-focused on his target, utilizing his Chaos Spears and teleportation to get the upper hand on the robot, which struggled to keep up. The hedgehog never ceased in his assault, and finally finished the machine off with a powerful Homing Attack that went straight through it.
And just like that, the security guard sent to capture them was officially... unemployed.
Shadow dusted off his hands, then turned to the man that had freed him, who was staring at him with a look of pure shock on his face. "Y-you took care of that guard robot so easily..." he said, sounding like he could hardly believe what he had just seen. "Are you really Shadow, the military's top-secret weapon?"
Shadow gave a nod in response. "I am," he said, clenching his fist for emphasis. "I'm Shadow the Hedgehog, the Ultimate Lifeform created by Professor Gerald Robotnik." He tilted his head at the man, his stoic expression never leaving his face. "You have quite the resemblance to him."
The man grinned and ran a hand through his mustache. "That's because Gerald Robotnik is my grandfather," he said proudly, "the greatest scientific genius of his time! And I am Dr. Eggman, soon to be the ruler of this world." He looked at Shadow curiously. "But what did you mean when you said you are going to grant my wish?"
Shadow merely smirked. "Bring the Chaos Emeralds." At Eggman's puzzled expression, his smirk grew wider. "I will be waiting for you... in the central control room of the Space Colony ARK."
Eggman blinked in surprise. "ARK...?"
But before any more words could be exchanged, Shadow warped away.
To freedom.
Okay, there we go! Shadow is back and he's ready to fight anything for his goal. I wonder where it will take him next?
Peace out!
