The first day of horror finally ended, but the sense of fear hung in the air like a bad smell that wouldn't go away. The hospital, which had been full of noise and movement, was now quiet, but it wasn't a peaceful quiet. It was the kind of quiet that comes after something terrible has happened, when everyone is too afraid to speak or move.
The CBI officers, with their serious faces, brought some calm to the situation. The plan to move the patients to other hospitals made people feel a bit better, as if the worst was finally over. But deep down, everyone knew the real trouble was just beginning. The government acted quickly to handle the financial problems caused by the evacuation, promising to pay the staff and give money to the families of those who had died. But it felt cold and unfeeling, like putting a price on a person's life, which didn't seem right.
Yamini lay on her hospital bed, staring up at the ceiling. She hadn't slept at all the night before. Every time she closed her eyes, she saw the face of the boy who had been killed. His face, which had been a blur in the chaos, was now clear in her mind. It was like he was staring at her, asking for help that she couldn't give. She felt so tired, but she couldn't sleep, not with those awful images in her head.
The room felt small and stuffy, filled with the heavy air of fear. The hospital, which usually smelled clean, now had a faint, awful smell of blood. The walls, which had witnessed so much suffering, seemed to press in on her, adding to her sense of being trapped.
Guilt gnawed at her. She had been so focused on getting a picture of that tattoo, even thinking of flirting to get it, that she forgot the boy was a person with his own life and problems. Now, he was dead, and her reasons for wanting the photo seemed so pointless. What good was it now? The boy was gone, and her actions, which had seemed so important before, felt empty and selfish.
She whispered a quiet prayer, hoping it might bring peace to those who had died. Her voice was soft, almost lost in the silence of the room, but she needed to say it. She needed to believe that something good could come from it, even if it was just a small comfort.
Outside the window, the first light of morning started to appear, casting long shadows across the floor. The light was weak, barely breaking through the clouds, as if the sun didn't want to shine on such a sad day. The world outside continued as usual, not caring about the horrors that had taken place in the hospital.
Yamini closed her eyes, not to sleep, but to block out the sight of the outside world, which now felt strange and distant. She just wanted to escape, even if only for a moment, from the terrible reality surrounding her.
It was around 10:00 AM, and the hospital grounds were abuzz with activity. Police and reserve forces were working together to evacuate people carefully but efficiently. Hundreds of vehicles were lined up, transporting patients to other hospitals, and the operation was expected to be completed by evening.
Yamini's gaze caught Rakesh again as he walked alone in the corridor near her room. Feeling a sense of urgency and frustration, she hurried over to him. Her face showed a mix of hope and determination, as she believed she might have information about the mysterious marks no one was taking seriously.
"Did you find out anything about those marks we talked about?" she asked, her voice filled with anticipation.
Rakesh turned to her, clearly surprised by her approach. "Not exactly, but you came at the right time. I was just about to visit you, but you found me first. I want you to meet someone," he said as they walked down the corridor together.
They entered a room where Yamini saw an old friend, Akshat, who now worked as a forensic investigator. Yamini's face lit up with recognition and joy. "So, you finally became an investigator! I'm happy for you!" she exclaimed, hugging him.
