CAMERON

I couldn't believe it. After all this time, I had finally mustered up the courage to tell her how I truly felt. And to my surprise, she felt the same way. We were in her bedroom, our bodies just inches apart, as we both confessed our love for each other.

Without hesitation, I wrapped my arms around her pulled her close, She melted into my embrace, her head resting on my chest as we held each other tight. I could feel her heart racing, matching the rhythm of my own.

The warmth of Elle's embrace lingered as we stood there, holding each other tightly. Everything felt right in that moment. "How did you even know where I was?" Elle asked, her voice muffled as she rested her head against my chest.

I hesitated for a second, unsure how she'd take it. "Well, the most unexpected person reached out to me... told me it was time to make things right."

She pulled back slightly, her brows furrowing in confusion. "Who?"

I glanced away for a moment, then met her gaze again. "Liam."

She froze, her eyes widening in shock. "My brother? Liam? Cam, are you serious?"

I nodded, still amazed by the turn of events myself. "Yeah. He was the one who contacted me. Told me I needed to fix things with you."

Her expression shifted from confusion to disbelief, her lips parting as if to say something but no words came out. She shook her head slightly, as if trying to process the idea that Liam—the person who had made his life's mission to hate me, her overprotective brother—had not only found me but encouraged me to make things right with her.

"I can't believe it." She murmured, half to herself. "Liam... he's always been against us. Why would he...?" She trailed off, clearly grappling with the sudden change in her brother's behavior.

"I don't know either." I admitted. "But I think we need to ask him ourselves."

Elle's eyes met mine, and after a moment of silence, she nodded. "Yeah... we should."

Taking her hand, we walked together toward Liam's room. I could feel her nervousness in the way her grip tightened slightly as we approached his door. It was a strange feeling—one I wasn't used to. For as long as I could remember, Liam had been the one person who had always stood between Elle and me. He made it clear he didn't approve of me, didn't like me, and most definitely didn't want me anywhere near his sister. And now, here we were, about to confront him after he had somehow decided to play peacemaker.

Elle knocked gently, and we waited. No response. She knocked again, a little louder this time. "Liam?" She called out.

Finally, we heard some shuffling from inside, and Elle opened the door. He was sitting at his desk, wearing his headphones, quietly playing some video game. The room was too still.

Elle and I exchanged a quick glance. Something was off. This wasn't the Liam I was used to.

He finally noticed us standing there. He turned his head slightly, and his eyes met mine. And then, the strangest thing happened. He smiled at me. It wasn't sarcastic or mocking like usual, but a genuine, almost friendly smile. He gave a small nod in acknowledgment, then turned back to his game.

The silence that followed felt awkward—at least for me. Elle seemed just as confused, standing beside me with her arms crossed, probably trying to make sense of her brother's sudden lack of hostility. I cleared my throat, deciding to break the silence first. "Uh... Liam. Thanks... for letting me know where Elle was."

He didn't look up from his screen. "Sure." He replied simply, his tone neutral.

Elle tilted her head, frowning. "Liam, what's going on? Why did you suddenly decide to help Cameron?"
