Chapter 4: the sports festival pt 3

After you were healed by Recovery girl, your phone had begun to ring as you were watching Bakugo's and Tokoyami's fight. You actually wanted Tokoyami to win since he looked like a cool person with a cool quirk but you were left in the unknown as you excused yourself.

The halls of the stadium were empty, you made sure of that before you took your phone out again, the ringtone being one of your favourite songs, the display name showing the word "Mom". 

Which was funny since you didn't have parents.

You picked your phone up, sending some of your spikes out so that they would catch on any vibrations that would signal that someone was eavesdropping.

"[L/n], are you alone right now?", the female voice on the other line asked, her tone serious like always.

"Yes, Mrs. President. What's the matter?", you asked, voice monotone as you glanced left and right, your spikes sticking onto the walls so that they wouldn't be seen. 

"Agent Nyx. Regarding our newest information, there has been a Hero Killer named Stain. He has been sighted in several other cities too, killing approximately four heroes in each of them. Nyx, your new mission is to arrest or if you have no choice, kill him. He is a threat to society's image of heroes due to his beliefs. Agent Hawks is busy on patrols in Kyushu and you are the only other pro hero that can do this. He has been last sighted in Hosu, injuring the infamous Ingenium. Your current job now is to supervise Ingenium, asking him about the killer's appearance and how he met him. Before that, start your final fight to make it seem less suspicious. We will inform All Might to end the fight if it lasts longer than five minutes, excusing you for an urgent emergency"

Without further explanation, she ended the call, leaving you alone in the silent halls.

So here you were, standing opposite of the second bane of your existence since Hawks was unreplaceable. The only difference was that you COULD stand Hawks. 

And not the explosive boy in front of you.

You internally sighed that you wouldn't be able to face off against Tokoyami. 

It was either you would win or lose this fight in under five minutes, or All Might had to interfere. 

His cerise eyes were furrowed as they watched over your aloof figure, his lips tightened in a deep scowl as he prepared his fighting stance. 

He wouldn't lose. He had promised it himself. 

Bakugo would prove to the whole world that he was greater than her. He couldn't lose. 

The boy was well aware of your quirk, a plan formulating in his head as he waited for the starting signal.

And when it came, he immediately put his wrists together, palms showing into your direction before blasting off a stun grenade, blinding you. 

He was determined to not let you get close. If you had beaten Todoroki, someone who was considered one of the strongest, then it would be a great achievement to defeat you. An even greater achievement if he could make YOU crumble on the floor instead. He could show you that he was stronger and that you were no match for him, eating dirt instead. Hell, he would be glad if he could shove dirt into your insufferable mouth himself to shut you up. 

From the very moment you stepped into the room with your nonchalant attitude, he knew that he wouldn't stand you. 

Turned out that you were more irritating and loathing than he thought you originally would be. 

To be very honest, he probably would have even stood you better if you had the same personality as fucking Deku, as much as he didn't want to admit it. Even Icy-hot was better than your dull eyes and behavior. Even he showed something like hate in his eyes the entire time. You didn't even show resentment when you insulted him or the pro hero in the stands. The only thing were he had seen it was when he had said he would beat you. And at his further insults. Occasionally, he believed to see a slight hint of loathing in your eyes when you looked at him.
