The week before the sports festival was nothing special.
Some training with Hawks (the matches ended with a tie), some training with agents from the HPSC, some studying, eating, sleeping, daydreaming, more training, spending time with your new friends, All Might trying to find out your second quirk or if you had any second quirk, eating, sleeping, have you mentioned eating already? Hawks had bought you your favourite food after you threatened to cut his wings off in his sleep to eat, sleep, and more sleep.
Oh, and at some point the students from other courses had come to scout out the enemy or things like that. Bakugo had made them even more upset which was why they were pretty pissed at class 1-A.
And some guy whose name was Shinso Hitoshi declared war on you. You only knew his name because you had done your research. And maybe his background and his history and all that stuff but he didn't need to know.
That was pretty much everything that had happened before the anticipated day came. Unfortunately, you weren't allowed to wear your hero costumes, only the sports uniform so that the students from other courses would have a chance too.
Your class was sitting in the preparation room, and as the name says, you were preparing for the sports festival.
You were talking to Midoriya while he was trying to calm his nerves, the expectations of All Might laying on the boy making him even more anxious as he tried to converse with you while he breathed in.
To worsen his nerves even more, Todoroki interrupted your talk to discuss something with Midoriya.
"Objectively speaking, I'm stronger than you. All Might's got his eye on you, doesn't he?", he asked him, his demeanor confident and cold.
"Now I'm not about to pry into why that is, but I will beat you", he declared, his fierce gaze fixated on the green-haired boy before he turned to you.
"I won't fall for your tricks again, [Y/N]"
The whole class was listening to his war declaration and confusion had settled in once he spoke his words to you, before Kirishima had grabbed his shoulder and tried to stop him.
"I really don't care. I'm not pretending to be anyone's friend here", he added harshly.
His coldness kinda reminded you of yours if you were honest. With more hate than dullness.
Midoriya hesitated a second before he took in a breath, his self-esteem building up.
"Todoroki, I'm not sure why you felt the need to tell me you'll beat me. You're clearly stronger and I can't measure up to most of the others here in skill. Objectively speaking, even..."
Kirishima tried to cheer him up, but Midoriya continued his speech.
"But, everyone, even the kids from the other courses are aiming for the top. The strongest hero and I'm well, lemme say this, I'm not gonna fall behind. I'm going for it too. With everything I've got!", he said fiercely, and you believed to see Bakugo scoffing in the back.
With that more or less motivating chat, the sports festival began.
You and your class stepped out of the tunnel, roars and cheers coming from every corner of the giant stadium, Present Mic narrating the festivals with Aizawa.
"It's the U.A.'s sports festival! The one time each year when our fledgling heroes compete in a ruthless grand battle! First up, you know who I'm talkin' about! The miraculous rising stars who brushed off a villain attack with their steely willpower! The first years of the hero course! Class 1-A!"
