One Ragged Breath

In....

Out.

The air wooshes painfully

into my lungs

and my stomach

clenches.

In....

Out.

I step forward,

the wind blowing

in my face.

In....

Out.

My heels touch the

rough cement while my

toes hang in the air.

In....

Out.

One more step

and I'm flying,

the wind whipping my hair back.

In....

Out.

My eyes sting with tears and my

heart thuds painfully as the air

beats against my lungs.

In...

Out.

I squeeze my eyes shut

tight as I fly closer to the ground

and the wind quickens my descent.

In....

Out.

A flash of pain.

A blanket of darkness.

One ragged breath.

In....

No wind

no air

nothing.

Out
