Dominic

The night had taken on a chill, the kind that seeped into your bones and left you feeling restless. I had spent most of the evening pacing my room, my thoughts a tangled mess of desire, frustration, and something else—something I didn’t want to acknowledge.

Evelyn was proving to be more of a challenge than I had anticipated. She was strong, stronger than the others, and the way she had responded to me earlier had been unexpected, even for me. I had seen the desire in her eyes, felt it in her touch, but I had also seen the fear, the uncertainty.

And that had made me hesitate.

I wasn’t used to hesitating. I wasn’t used to second-guessing myself. But there was something about Evelyn, something that made me want to unravel her completely, to see what lay beneath the surface.

But as much as I wanted her, as much as I craved the control I could have over her, there was a part of me—a small, insistent part—that didn’t want to break her. I wanted to see her struggle, to see her fight back, to see how far she could be pushed before she either crumbled or rose from the ashes.

I had almost lost control earlier, almost taken things too far. But I had stopped myself, pulled back before it was too late. A part of me had wanted to push her further, to see how she would react, but something in her eyes had made me stop.

It was that vulnerability, that fear mixed with desire, that had made me pause. It was a dangerous combination, one that could easily spiral out of control if I wasn’t careful.

But I wasn’t ready to let go of her, not yet.

As I stood by the window, staring out into the darkness, I heard the soft creak of my door opening behind me. I didn’t need to turn around to know who it was.

“Isabella,” I said, my voice low and controlled.

She stepped into the room, her presence as cold and calculated as always. “Dominic,” she replied, her tone matching mine. “We need to talk.”

I turned to face her, my expression carefully neutral. “What about?”

“Evelyn,” she said, her eyes narrowing slightly. “She’s getting too close, Dominic. You’re getting too close.”

A flicker of annoyance sparked in my chest, but I kept it hidden behind a mask of indifference. “You’re imagining things.”

“Am I?” Isabella’s lips curled into a faint, almost mocking smile. “I saw you with her. You were about to lose control.”

I clenched my jaw, my temper flaring. “That’s none of your concern, Isabella.”

“It is when it starts affecting you,” she countered, her gaze sharp and unyielding. “You’re playing with fire, Dominic. She’s not like the others. She’s—”

“She’s different,” I finished for her, my voice cold. “I know that.”

Isabella’s smile faded, and for a moment, she looked almost… concerned. “Dominic, I’m warning you. This game you’re playing—it’s going to end badly. For both of you.”

I held her gaze, the tension between us thick and palpable. “I’m in control, Isabella. Don’t forget that.”

Her eyes narrowed, and for a moment, I thought she might push further. But then she sighed, shaking her head slightly. “Just be careful, Dominic. You may think you’re in control, but Evelyn… she’s stronger than you realize. She could ruin everything.”

With that, she turned and left the room, leaving me alone with my thoughts.

I stared after her, the tension in my chest coiling tighter. Isabella was right about one thing—Evelyn was different. She was stronger, more resilient, and that made her both a challenge and a risk.

But I wasn’t going to let that stop me.

Evelyn was in too deep now, and so was I. The game was far from over, and I wasn’t about to back down. I would see this through to the end, no matter the cost.

And when it was all over, I would either have her completely… or I would destroy her.
