Chloe's deep slumber was disturbed by an eerie voice, its tone both mocking and sinister. The voice seemed to seep through her dreams, filling her mind with unsettling thoughts.
"Poor girl," the voice crooned, dripping with contempt. "Her girlfriend is starting to fall for another."
Chloe stirred in her sleep, a frown forming on her face as the voice's words pierced through her subconscious. She shifted restlessly, trying to shake off the disquieting feeling that something was amiss. But the voice persisted, its laughter echoing through the corners of her dreamscape.
"Does she know?" the voice continued, its tone taunting. "Does she realize that Red is being drawn to someone else? How long will she stay oblivious while the heart she cherishes grows colder?"
Chloe's brows furrowed, her expression shifting from confusion to distress. She tried to wake herself, but the voice seemed to have a grip on her, pulling her deeper into a nightmarish realization.
The voice's laughter grew louder, more mocking. "You're losing her, Chloe. And by the time you wake, it might be too late to fix what's been broken."
Chloe's eyes shot open, and she immediately felt a surge of panic. Her nightmare's lingering fear spurred her into action as she bolted out of bed, frantically searching the empty dorm room for Red. Her heart raced, the remnants of the eerie dream still gripping her.
"Red?" Chloe's voice was strained but she managed to keep it steady as she dashed through the dorm hallway. The silence around her was deafening, only amplifying her growing sense of dread. When she found the hallway deserted, she spun around, her frustration mounting.
Returning to the room, Chloe paced restlessly, her face tight with a mix of anxiety and anger. She was on the verge of tears, but she refused to let them show. Her hands balled into fists as she tried to steady her breathing.
Just then, the door swung open and Red and Morgian walked in, both looking disheveled from their hasty morning. Red's face lit up with concern when she saw Chloe's agitated state.
"Chloe? What's wrong?" Red asked, stepping forward.
Chloe's eyes narrowed slightly as she turned to Red, trying to mask the hurt and frustration she felt. "I thought I'd lost you," she said tersely. "I woke up and you were gone. Where were you?"
Before Red could respond, Morgian's eyes flickered with a hint of amusement as he took in the scene. "Well, well, look who's lost her cool," he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "Seems like someone's been up all night worrying."
Chloe's eyes flashed with anger at Morgian's taunt, but she controlled her voice to remain steady. "I'm just glad you're back. What's the plan?"
Morgian smirked, unfazed by Chloe's restrained fury. "We're off to find Zevon. But if you're done sulking, maybe you can help us figure out how to get out of this mess."
Chloe's jaw tightened, but she took a deep breath to maintain her composure. She refused to let Morgian see how much his taunts affected her. "I'm ready. Let's just get this over with."
Red glanced between Chloe and Morgian, sensing the tension but unsure of the exact source. She nodded, trying to keep the mood focused on their mission. "Alright, let's go. We don't have much time."
As they headed out, Chloe maintained a facade of calm, but her clenched fists and the tight set of her jaw betrayed her inner frustration. Morgian, on the other hand, seemed to revel in the power play, his smirk never wavering as he led the way.
Zevon was hunched over his workbench, meticulously stirring a potion with a look of intense concentration. The room was filled with the earthy aroma of various herbs and ingredients. When Morgian, Red, and Chloe entered, Zevon's focus remained fixed on his task, not bothering to acknowledge them.
