The emerald sky darkened as I stood at the edge of the highest tower in my castle, the place where it all began. The wind howled around me, but it was nothing compared to the storm that raged inside. My fingers traced the worn edges of my broomstick, the same one I had clung to for all these years.

They call me wicked, a heartless sorceress who terrorizes Oz with green-tinted fury. But none of them know the truth—not the Munchkins, not the citizens of the Emerald City, and certainly not that little girl in my sisters sparkling shoes. They see only the villain in their story, not the child I once was.

I remember the first time I saw that shade of green, the one that now stains my skin, as if it was yesterday. It wasn't always like this. I wasn't always like this.

Once, long ago, I was just a child. A girl with hopes, dreams, and a heart as tender as any other. But Oz is a land of illusions, where kindness is a weakness, and innocence is a fleeting dream.

Back then, before the bitterness took root, before the power consumed me, I was simply a girl named Demi. A girl who dared to believe that she could be loved.

And this—this is where my story truly begins.
