The following morning was met with an uneasy silence in Asher's apartment. Amber had left early, her departure marked by a sense of lingering discomfort. The events of the previous night weighed heavily on both Asher and Leah, and it was clear that unresolved tensions needed to be addressed.
Leah, who had been avoiding eye contact with Asher all morning, finally broke the silence as they sat in the kitchen. She had a serious look on her face as she stared at her brother, her frustration evident.
"So, you've slept with Amber twice now, and you've only just met her," Leah said, her voice tinged with disbelief. "What exactly is going on here?"
Asher rolled his eyes, clearly exasperated by the question. He took a deep breath, trying to gather his thoughts. "Look, Leah, it's not as straightforward as it seems. Last night was... complicated."
Leah's expression hardened. "Complicated? You don't just dive into something like this with someone you barely know. What's your deal with Amber?"
Asher sighed deeply, running a hand through his hair. "Fine. I'll be honest. The truth is, I used Amber. She was a way to escape from everything that's been going on. It's easier to be with her than to deal with my own issues."
Leah's eyes widened in shock. "You're saying you've been using her like a... sex doll?"
Asher's face flushed with a mix of guilt and frustration. "I didn't mean it that way, but yeah, that's basically it. She's been a distraction from the mess I'm in. I know it's wrong, and I feel terrible about it, but that's how it is."
Leah looked at him with a mixture of disappointment and anger. "You realize how messed up that is, right? You've hurt Amber, and you're not even being honest with yourself about your feelings. This is not how you handle relationships."
Asher looked away, unable to meet Leah's gaze. "I know. I've been a mess, and I've taken it out on Amber. I didn't think it through, and now everything's a mess."
Leah shook her head, her frustration clear. "You need to clean up this mess. You owe it to Amber to be honest with her about where you stand. Using her as a way to escape your problems isn't fair to anyone."
Asher nodded, his expression somber. "You're right. I need to talk to her, make things right. I need to be honest with her about everything."
Leah sighed, her anger giving way to a resigned understanding. "I hope you figure it out. But remember, it's not just about fixing things with Amber. It's about being honest with yourself and dealing with your issues properly."
Asher nodded again, the weight of Leah's words settling heavily on him. He knew he had a difficult conversation ahead, both with Amber and with himself. The truth was that he needed to confront his own feelings and the consequences of his actions.
With a heavy heart, Asher prepared himself to face Amber and address the situation honestly. It was time to clear the air and deal with the fallout of his choices, hoping to find a path forward that could lead to some form of resolution and understanding.
