Amber lay still for a moment, her breathing slowly returning to normal as she took in the dimly lit lounge. The noise of the party downstairs was distant, muffled by the walls that had enclosed them in their own little world for the past hour. She turned her head to look at Asher, who was lying beside her, his chest rising and falling steadily.

"Thank you," Amber whispered, breaking the silence, her voice soft and a little uncertain.

Asher turned his head to meet her gaze, a small, genuine smile forming on his lips. "No, thank you," he replied, his voice carrying a quiet sincerity. "For experiencing this with me."

For a moment, they simply looked at each other, the weight of what had just happened settling between them. It was a moment neither of them had anticipated when the night began, but it had happened, and now there was no going back.

Amber finally sat up, reaching for her dress that had been discarded carelessly on the floor. She slipped it on, smoothing out the fabric as she tried to gather her thoughts. Everything felt surreal—just hours ago, they were strangers, and now this.

Asher, too, began to dress, his movements unhurried. There was no rush to return to the party, no urgency to step back into the roles they had played before. They both seemed content to take their time, letting the moment linger a little longer.

Once they were dressed, Asher reached out and took Amber's hand, helping her to her feet. There was an unspoken understanding between them—a mutual recognition that what had happened was significant, even if they weren't sure what it meant yet.

"Ready to head back upstairs?" Asher asked, his voice gentle, as if he didn't want to break the delicate atmosphere that had settled between them.

Amber nodded, still processing everything. "Yeah... let's go."

They walked to the door together, Asher's hand still loosely holding hers. As they stepped into the hallway, the distant sounds of the party grew louder, reminding them that the world hadn't stopped while they were away. It was a strange feeling, returning to reality after what felt like a dream.

As they reached the top of the stairs, Amber paused and looked at Asher, her eyes searching his for some sign of what he was thinking. "This... tonight... I didn't expect it," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.

Asher met her gaze, his expression serious but warm. "Neither did I. But I'm glad it happened."

Amber smiled, feeling a sense of comfort in his words. "Me too," she said softly.

They shared a quiet moment before finally making their way back to the party. The night wasn't over yet, but whatever happened next, they knew that what they had just shared would linger between them, a memory that would shape whatever came after.
