Prologue: The Whisper of Shadows

In the heart of a city where the past and present coexist in a delicate dance, three unlikely individuals found themselves drawn together by forces beyond their understanding. I, along with LoraineJD and Watson—three names that would soon become synonymous with both brilliance and intrigue—was one of those individuals.

I've always prided myself on my keen intellect and sharp wit, staying a step ahead of the game. My mind is a labyrinth of thoughts and ideas, each more intricate than the last. I navigate life with an air of mystery, my true intentions hidden behind a playful smile.

LoraineJD, the creative soul, is the glue that holds our group together. Her artistic vision brings life to the abstract, turning thoughts into reality with a mere stroke of her pen. She sees the world in a way that others can't—a kaleidoscope of colours and possibilities waiting to be explored.

And then there's Watson, the steady hand amidst the chaos. Her analytical mind and unwavering determination make her the perfect complement to my brilliance and LoraineJD's creativity. Together, we form a trio unlike any other, each of us bringing something unique to the table.

Our paths crossed by chance, or perhaps by fate, in the labyrinthine corridors of the city we call home. What began as a casual meeting of minds quickly evolved into something more—a partnership forged in the fires of curiosity and the desire to uncover the unknown.

First of all I want to say hello to everyone. It's my first time writing an author's note like this, so pardon me with all the unnecessary TMI's. I'm really thankful for lorainejd for inviting me to write in this splendid collaboration. Although she knows as she has witnessed my struggles in meeting deadlines.

One of the results of that is not being present all the time cause I'm busy doing other things. I just wanna tell you that it's my dream to write a story. I consider this as my first one even though I only write some parts of it. I just wanna tell lorainejd that I'm thankful for her consideration and kindness as she didn't get angry when I honestly told her that I don't really have any idea what I should write next and she told me a lot of advice on what I should write next. I'm grateful for this splendid two months of collaboration with you.

Well, I met Mary online with lorainejd, introducing him to me, and I didn't expect that we would be in a relationship either but look at our excellent detective lorainejd. She read us like an open book. 🤣🤣

She became our cupid and love adviser not just to me but others too.

Anyway, thanks love (our nickname to each other) for everything you have done for me. For being patient and considering me. Thanks for helping in this story too, love. I love you.

Let me tell you the story of how The Baker Street Trio came to rise.

It all began when I met a fellow community member who went by the username Miffy. We quickly became friends, and when I learned that he was joining the TEGSA, I volunteered to help him. He gladly accepted, saying that he was my greatest fan.

We began brainstorming until I told my best friend, Nikki—known as Watson in a community we had (Elpida)—about a new collaboration. Nikki joined the server and eventually met Miffy. I asked if she could help us, and she agreed. And so, the Baker Street Trio was formed.

The first book cover was originally made by Miffy, but once my creative side kicked in, I designed another one, which eventually became the new official cover. I enjoyed the process so much that I ended up creating several other covers as well.

By the first chapter, Watson wasn't very productive, but she managed to write a few paragraphs. By the second chapter, she began diving deeper into the story, researching the effects of bombing incidents. She was the one who crafted the news report found in that part of the story. Miffy, on the other hand, mentioned he was busy, so we carried on without him.

It wasn't long before the two realized their love for each other. I deduced their actions online, interrogated them one by one, and confirmed my suspicions. I encouraged them to confess their feelings, and soon enough, they were in a relationship.

Inspired by our favourite series, where Watson and I relate to Sherlock and John and Miffy as Mary Morstan, we decided to name our trio The Baker Street Trio.

Chapter 3 was eventually written by Miffy after many days of waiting. I had asked both of them to work on it, but love took precedence. However, during the revision phase, Watson and I went through the chapter, making edits to better align it with the ongoing storyline. During those times, Miffy's not my biggest fan anymore because he now have his Love.

We added dialogues while waiting for our next class on August 27, Miffy's birthday. We even included courtroom conversations to highlight Damien's confidence.

Then, Miffy's busy days began. He asked me to carry on with the story, leaving me with no choice. Fueled by my love for writing and passion for mystery, I continued crafting the tale all the way to the Epilogue. I enjoyed every moment, but I wished they had been there with me.

I sacrificed a great deal to finish this story-sleepless nights, staying up late to work on it, and my studies. Instead of rereading my report, I lend my time on writing because I despise procrastination, especially with only a few days left before the deadline for the contest. I gave up the things I wanted to do each day, pouring all my effort into it.

Instead of the planned fantasy and romance story, I transformed it into a mystery. I informed Miffy, who had originally shared his idea about Damien as a lawyer dealing with his deceased mother, that I was concerned about the new plot I had developed. Because of his busy schedule, we eventually shifted our focus to a new topic involving Watson.

Now that I've finished the story, I feel a sense of pride in what I've created. I later deduced that Vicenzo Cassano, whom Miffy wanted to portray as Damien Lane, is his favourite character from a film about a mafia lawyer.

I'm thrilled with the story I crafted. Writing the chapters, especially Chapter 9 and the Epilogue, was a true emotional roller coaster. I fell in love with the characters we created-Damien being Miffy's creation and the others mine. I only wish that Miffy and Watson could have shared the same experience while writing the story.

To Kmytho, my protege, never give up! You can still do your story! I read a very amazing quote saying, "If you quit doing something because you haven't received praise or money, then it is a job. But if you do it without those things, it is a mission." Well, just saying. That quote inspired me a lot.

To all readers out there, what did you think of the ending? Who do you believe that mysterious man might be? And do you think there will be a second book? I'll probably do it myself. They're busy anyway. I hope my team will at least have time reading this book I finished for them.
