i woke up late on purpose, knowing it would piss reg off. my phone wasn't there to wake me up, not since reg snatched it out of my hands yesterday. i just laid there, thinking about how everything went down.

Flashback:

when jake and i got home yesterday, as soon as Jake and i walked through the door, i could feel the tension in the air. reg was sittin' on the couch, his crew around him, all laid back like it was just another day. but the way he looked at me. i knew i was in for it.

"yo, folks" he called out , his voice steady but cold. "come here."

i glanced at jake, who just gave me a 'you on your own' look and headed to his room. he wasn't about to get involved. i walked over to reg, already feeling the heat rise in my chest.

" wassup b?"  i said trying to act nonchalant "wassup?" reg echoed, shaking his head like he couldn't believe i was acting so chill. "you wanna tell me what the fuck went down at school today, G?"

i knew better than to play dumb, but i couldn't help it. "it was just some bullshit, reg. nothing serious."

reg wasn't having it. "nothing serious? you out here getting in trouble in school, and you think that's nothing? you think i'm out here busting my ass for you we only got each other sani."

i opened my mouth to argue, but before i could say anything, he snatched my phone out of my jacket. "you know what?  no phone, no poppin out, no nothing. just school and home. and you ain't getting this back until i see you can handle your shit."

"reg, that's not fair, i didnt even do shit" i snapped, but he just gave me that look—the one that said he wasn't about to argue.

"ain't shit fair, kasani. now get outta my face with that bullshit folks," he said, turning back to his boys like the conversation was over.

i was fuming, but i knew better than to keep pushing. instead, i just walked off to my room shutting the door behind me. i trying to stay out of the crossfire, but for some reason someone or something gets me into trouble.
