A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER, MICHAEL, BILL, AND JAVON WALKED INTO WWF HEADQUARTERS FOR THE MEETING OF THE UPCOMING STORYLINE. The receptionist, who was a redhead, seemed to already be expecting them. She greeted them with a warm smile, "Welcome, Mr. Jackson, Mr. Whitfield, and Mr. Beard. Uh, Mr. McMahon is waiting for you in his office," she said, "Follow me, gentlemen."
Michael, Bill, and Javon all followed the receptionist through the maze of hallways, eventually arriving at Vince's office.
"Ah, the men of the hour! Please, take a seat," Vince gestured to the chairs arranged in front of his desk, "I spoke briefly with Michael a few weeks ago, but I trust we're all at least somewhat aware of why we're here?"
Vince leaned back in his chair, studying the trio with a keen eye. Michael sat up a little straighter, Bill exuded confidence, and Javon had an air of curiosity around him.
"Yes, sir," Bill spoke up, "We understand that you're considering a storyline involving Michael and Miss Calaway."
"Indeed," Vince nodded, "But this isn't just any storyline. This is going to be one that will have the WWF Universe on the edge of their seats. We want to create magic in that ring," he emphasized, "Oh, speaking of—there's the woman of the hour!"
"Grandpa," Athena smiled, giving him a knowing look as she walked into the room.
"Grandpa?" Michael, Bill, and Javon all exchanged surprised glances, the revelation catching them off guard.
Vince chuckled at their expressions, enjoying the dramatic effect of the moment, "Yes, Athena is my granddaughter," he confirmed.
"That's right," Athena said mysteriously, "I am a McMahon."
"And yet, WWE fans don't know that?" Bill asked.
"You do," Athena shrugged.
"Well, she wanted to make a name for herself first," Vince explained as his granddaughter sat down in another one of the chairs, "She's also Mark Calaway's daughter. He's the Undertaker, I'm sure you know him? She just went by 'Athena' in the ring at first, because she didn't want people to like her just because of who her father is. And she doesn't have 'McMahon' anywhere in her name in the wrestling world because she didn't want people to think she's only successful in the WWF because of the McMahon name or Mark."
"Not that I don't love ya'll," Athena shrugged as she gave a knowing look to Vince, "I just don't want to be accused of favoritism."
"I know, sweetheart," Vince smiled at her, "But sometimes, it's okay to embrace where you come from and the legacy that follows," he added, his eyes full of pride for Athena, "But for now, let's discuss this storyline. Is there anything you guys are not comfortable doing? Obviously Michael will not get hurt in any way, and neither will Athena, but because we were thinking of making this a......say, a romantic storyline—we want to know if there's anything you two aren't comfortable doing."
